I don't know much about jazz music since in this part of the world we don't get the exposure/choice which people abroad have.Yr remarkable recovery from such terrible illness and yr continued endeavour to entertain/break new paths in the realm of jazz music should be an inspiration to all. I wish u all the very best in all yr endeavours. Love, Murali

Pat, Great to see your website and all the beautiful things you're doing. Call me sometime if you're not too pissed for me disagreeing with you "oh great master". It's a joke, don't forget "the ego is your enemy" - you said it NAMM 1997. Your Irreverent but "for real" Friend, Tom Letizia 800 441-4880

My word! I have been going through as much of your discography as my school's music library holds and I don't know whether to get out my guitar and practice or just put it in the closet and take up baking or something. Thank you for all the great music.

Pat, Its been such a pleasure to hear your music through the years. I first started checking you out in 1978, my first year at Berklee. Everybody was talking about your sound. In fact I would see Delmar around the area from time to time. Anyway when Joyous Lake first came out, I had no idea that club was'nt far from where I grew up (Wappingers Falls N.Y). To say the least I was sorry to have missed you. I live in Washington DC now, and am hoping that you might come to one of the clubs. Your long fluid lines and phrasing on the guitar always amaze me. See you sometime

Pat,your composition "Joyous Lake" is one of my favorite songs of all time. I keep hoping that the mid 70's album "Joyous Lake" will be available on CD. I was pleased to find a new version of that song on your album "Stone Blue." I am inspired that you have recovered and are still making fine music.

Dear Mr. Martino, Thank you for your great music over the past thirty years. The body of work is wonderfully diverse. It's great to have your music available on reissued and newly recorded bases. Thank you also for your instructional material (print and video), as well as your lead sheets. Please make your songbooks available again soon. Are you interested in playing in the Detroit and metro areas? There are plenty of stages, theaters and clubs. If you ever choose the club format, please consider playing at the Bird of Paradise Jazz Club in Ann Arbor, MI. It offers live jazz seven days a week, and is owned by bassist Ron Brooks. You would likely enjoy the ambiance, the town, and the appreciative audiences. Best regards.

Pat I just wa nted to write to you & let u know that after 20 years I'm still listening to what I consider to be one of the greatest guitar albums of all time.I bought your "Consciousness" LP about 23 yrs ago ,and recently I bought a new Turntable & when I played it again I was greatly inspired by your playing once again. your version of Coltrane's "Impressions" is pure musical emotional genius, Words can't describe how deep The music on that LP is,, Pure emotion!!! This album should be in the music hall of fame under genius jazz guitar.. Love your new version of "Joyous Lake" The piano solo is outrageous. Will be listening to all your vinyl Lps (I own all of them) Thanx for all the music you have created.

I first heard on of your tunes on Ross Porter's After Hours radio show on the Canadian Broadcasting Corp. I was impressed and enchanted. I've since picked up All Sides Now and Stone Blue. Wow! I expect to enjoy these tunes for many years to come and to share them with good friends. Thanks!

Mr. Martino - I was so excited to hear your new recordings, "Stone Blue" and "Fire Dance," - it is so nice to hear you touch upon classic motifs and concepts of your back catalog with new ideas. I had the fortunate opportunity to speak with you briefly between sets at a show in Boston, MA at the Regatta Bar, and must admit that I was inspired by your sincerity and accessibility. As a fellow guitar player, your music is a constant source of inspiration and education, and it was especially important for me to meet you and share a few kind words. While I am originally from the Philadelphia area, I now live in the San Francisco Bay Area, and feel too far removed logistically to pursue technical/theoretical study with you - see, I am still trying to work through your "diminished chord theory" in application, and would like to discuss your geometric musical diagram included in the introduction to the "Creative Force" series. Your geometric concepts are deeply intriguing, and I was wondering if you'd ever have any time to illuminate (though i feel it may take years to digest!) Thank you so very much for your artistry and personal resilience - you are a empowering individual and a role model for many such as myself. I wish you peace and clarity of mind, and would love to touch base as your time permits. Peace.

Mr Martino, I recently discovered your music this summer while attending Interlochen arts camp for Jazz Guitar. I am 16 years old, and I cannot get enough of your music. I now own We'll be together again, Footprints, and El Hombre. All of these I listen to constantly, along with Wes, Coltrane, Parker, Dizzy, Miles and Oscar Peterson. El Hombre is my favorite album that I own of yours at the time. I love every single song on El hombre, especially Waltz for geri Cisco, Once I loved, and Just friends. But that is pretty much all of the songs. I have Pat Martino the Early years, and am presently working on the Just Friends solo. Mr Martino, your work is that of a true genus, your improvisations, your chord acompanyment, your chord melody (especialy on We'll be together again) You have influenced me greatly, even as a late discoverer of your music. I will continue to listen to your music over and over. Thanks, Lee Rothenberg. PS as a native of Philadelphia, where can I see you play, so that I may experience your music live? thanks again

I just picked up Stone Blue today and was overwhelmed. Great Recording. I've only recently started listening to your music and I so very impressed. I've plyed guitar on and off for 20 years and just starting to try to learn jazz. I'm not sure if I should quit or woodshed after listening to your music! I'm looking forward to hearing details of your Gibson signature model. Hope you pass through NE Ohio some day (or I catch you performing somewhere). Keep up the great work!

Mr. Martino, you've been probably the greatest single inspiration that I've had as a guitarist. I consider it a great honor to be able to contact you and regret that you were not teaching at GIT when I was a student there in 1986. Your playing is almost like a religion to many young players who have devoted their lives to playing the guitar. I used to pump Vic Trigger (GIT instructor and Guitar Player interviewer) for information about you when I was a GIT student. Also, Mr. Martino, I'd love to hear some of your SOLO guitar pieces. Have you considered releasing a SOLO guitar album? Alternatively, if you were to make your SOLO guitar compositions available in published transcription form, I would be one of your first customers. If you have any spare time, Mr. Martino, I'd love to hear from you personally. Also, if you're ever in Ohio (especially Columbus or Cleveland), I'd love to meet you and perhaps buy you lunch or dinner.

I saw your concert this summer in Wilm, DE. Fantastic. I hope you will play in DE again, this time in a concert hall before people that are there to hear your artistry. Outdoor festivals like the one this summer tend to attract people for many reasons, not all realted to appreciating the artist. Please play at The Grand Opera House to a paying audience. Thank you for your wonderful music.

It's a privilige to be able to reach you. I am feeling very fortunate. About 22 years ago I put away my guitar (a $75 Orpheum Archtop) that I had purchased from my teacher Dan Bennon from N.J.. Dan spoke highly of his idol Joe Pass and you Pat. I was more interested in hormones and ego than music at the time but just 3 months ago I pulled out the guitar (it sounds sweet and is now "worth" $1,200) and began lessons. My teacher John Wheliss loves your playing and suggested 3 Titles, The Maker, We'll Be Together Again and All Sides Now. What is so wonderful is that now that I've grown personally/emotionally/spiritually my own efforts at making music are so much more pleaseant and actually quite easy. I was able to re-learn years of lessons in about three weeks and am just loving the state of mind that comes over me during my early sunrise practice sessions. I thought that you might be interested in my story and I hope you'd like to learn about how listening to your music for the first time effects one like myself who at this point in his life is so ready to be reached. I'll let you know what it is like. Thank you, bp
