I have you 70's records, conciousness is really hard to improvise on my synth guitar with the album. It's so speedy, did you improvise on that cut "Along came betty".
If it was pre-arranged, is the music written down somewhere.
I hear a few year ago that you had a stroke, and lost your abilities, but looking at your recent news ... seems everything is ok. I'm a student of the mystic paths. I find
some of your improvs, enlightening.
My wife gets a headache from them, though.
God bless you, glorify god.

Hey Pat! I'm just kind of getting back to listening to you after a long absence.(YEARS)It inspires me to hear you again, I've transcribed plenty (Along Came Betty notably) and you always been a great resource for
a totally new approach, it never wears thin with me, I've been playing as professional for 24 years and your playing brings back ideas i'de forgotten making me feel fresh. I saw you at the Longhorn in MPLS what seems
like centuries ago, I'm sure you remember my vocalized appreciation in which I proclaimed you were "TOPS".Your newer or newest CD is getting some good airplay in mpls, it prompted me to go out and pick up an old fav
"We'll be together Again". Great to have you back on the "scene". peace jc

Hey Pat, I'm 16 years old. I've been playing jazz guitar for just about eleven years now (you are the main reason I own my parker). I also own a nice chunk of your albums and I just wanted to tell you they're all amazing. I absolutely love your duet w/ tuck andress on all sides now. I was just wondering if I can receive a scedual of your performances... thanx, Hanan

in all my years [46]of listening to guitarists...there have
only been two that completely turned my head around..jeff
beck and Pat Martino.when i was lucky enough to meet and
talk to him at the naam show ,3 years ago, it only confirmed
what i had already figured out, that not only was he a trail-
blazer but a genuinely gentle and friendly man who was
honestly interested in the observations of a player and fan
and left me feeling that he had real relationship with his
fans. here's to the hope that he roams the planet for
several more years creating music that should be heard.

Caught you and Joyous Lake at the
Iridium in NYC last week. Great show!
I was with my friend Ken Carbone who
features you in his soon-to-be-released
book on virtuoso's. Ken introduced me to
your music in 1975 where I first saw
you at a club in South Philly. In 23 years
you've only gotten better! Love Stone Blue.

Dear Pat,
I have been a fan for almost 30-years. Man you are brilliant, the creativity you achieve all those years 'till now on your guitar is unbelievable. Special to me is your JAZZRock-style in JOYOUS LAKE LP-WARNER BROS-1976. (CD-RE-release?)
Since I've bought "LIVE" and all the other Jazz/JazzRock LP's released in the 70's, waw this is it!! I began to listen and study your playing. I'm looking forward to see you live (again) in The Netherlands at the NORTHSEA JAZZFESTIVAL in The Hague.
Also your videos I and II are very good I really enjoy your playing and instuctional advice.
Your homepage is impressing, I'm glad to find you at Internet. Thank you.
Pat, God bless you and be well.

Dear Pat,
Have been a fan for many, many, years and you are by far my greatest musical influence. Just picked up "We'll Be Together Again." It is my new favorite....I love the introspection and your tone, (I believe it's the Koontz), is magnificent. Still like the punch, resonance, and "snap" of you on those hollowbodies! Glad to hear about the new signature Gibson. To the finest improvisor I know of...thanks!! Steve

I met Kyung Chung Wha the classical violinist. I thought it would be nice if you and her could get together and play some. She said, "Oh, I don't play jazz." But since you are now touching on some classical motifs with your new stuff (and you always have been a flexmeister in terms of style) maybe you could talk her into it. She's living in New York City with her husband and two kids. Look her up if it strikes you. She loves to talk about her kids by the way. Take care. And when are you coming to Yonago. I was really disappointed you didn't make it last time.

Dear Pat, Eric Nemeyer and I want to thank you for the time we spent together last Friday. We're looking forward to getting the next issue of Jazz Improv off the press in the next couple of weeks featuring you on the cover, your music and especially the very insightful interview. What a special treat to be able to play your new Gibson guitars! My first impression was a Gibson L5S (Albeit with Florentine cutaway), but upon closer inspection the hollow body and neck through design is more reminiscent of a 335. The custom was georgous with the higly flamed AAA maple top, but my emotional favorite was the cherry burst. You'll make quite a splash at the NAMM show in January. I also can't wait to see you in the "live" mode at the Keswick in November. Thanks again.

Dear Pat,I´m 60 years old jazz guitar freak from Sweden and I was attracted by archtop for 50 years. All my life I was listening to people like Barney Kessel,Kenny Burrel,Howard Roberts,Wes Montgomery,Herb Ellis and than frien of mine brought me a record of yours,I think it was Footprints and Joyous lake. This was I believe in seventies.I enjoyed your records, but I must confess,it was to modern and to fast for me at that time.Nowdays I have your videos and I like them very much.I remember that at your begining you did play an archtop guitar. Is it right that you switched to Benedetto archtop? I wish you many happy years ahead, with best regards Josip Seidl

Through the ages there have been icons in the arts that have
been able to positively affect many people. You are truly
one of those. I know I am not alone in telling you how I
feel your spiritual being expressed in your music. I am a
47 year-old jazz musician and have appreciated your playing
for over 25 years. Certainly your early recordings "raised
the bar" and remain as deliciously inventive, precise and
bluesy as the day they were created. Today, your music also
communicates that you are on the path of enlightenment. When
I play your music, especially "The Maker," I get re-centered
and just plain ol' feel okay. This perception was confirmed
when I had the pleasure in meeting you not long ago. Thanks.
Also, I just noticed that you will be at the NAMM show in
Anaheim, January, 1999. Yoohoo! What company will you be
representing, and do you know your itinerary?
Sincerely,
Jim Fisk

Having arrived as a jazz fan after many years of playing rock and funk , i would just like to express my appreciation for your own contribution , of which i am now benefiting.Iam studying jazz at the Leeds college of music in England , and the work i put in on your books `Creative Force` plus the transcriptions i`ve done of some of your solo`s have really put alot of things into perspective.I`m now looking forward to filling some of the gaps in my collection of your recordings thanks to the `32 Jazz` rereleases. ps.. There`s a lot of people who would love to see you play in England if your ever on this side of the pond .

Dear Oat,
I'm sutting here listening to Stone Blue - preparing to review it for The Evening Herald here in Dublin, Ireland. I have the only dedicated weekly Jazz Colum in Ireland and was tipped off to the CD by David O'Rourke, an Irish jazz guitarist whom you met in NY in recent weeks. Hopefully you will get to know David better - and come play for us in the near future! Meanwhile, Stome Blue is going to get a VERY VERY positive review - because it is a great album.
Best Wishes

dear Pat,
i'm really impressed with your page. I have never looked at the relationship between the tones on the guitar the way you describe them, totally eye opening!
i'm 19 and i've been playing guitar for 5 years, and jazz for the last 3. i've been studying for the last year with someone you may remember: Pete Gouzouasis, from philly!
He used to be a dj on the jazz station in philly, now he teaches at the university of british columbia. he has really gotten me interested in your playing and now your philosophy towards the guitar. i just picked up the new stone blue record, way to go! classic Martino, with a modern take on music you perfected in the 70's (before i was born, ha ha) i've got the all sides now record and have practically worn out the cut with tuck andress, that lick that ends the tune is a gem, talk about simplicity taking presidence over flash. holy cow, i get shivers. i just got a japanese import of the live record, from '72. that baby is going to keep me busy for the next 6 months! your take of Sunny pays wonderful tribute to Wes and adds your personality to make it cook, by the way the rest of the guys aren't too shabby either. I guess i'd better get going, but i urge you to make a trip up here to canada, and soon, look me or pete up, and we can get together, or contact me over the web. don't forget to bring an axe, pete and i would love some pointers. thanks for all your wonderful music, you've made a huge fan out of me, thanks

I was about to ask about re-releases of Joyous Lake and Starbright... but found all that info on the website! I'm glad to have We'll be together again and anxiously await 32Jazz getting to the Warner Bros. material.
I hope Pat gets back out to L.A.! Saw a set at Catalina's last fall; I loved it, of course (that's a given) but even more so, my girlfriend, who is decidedly in a different bag, was completely swept away by the music. We hope to see Pat again.
Great job getting info out there to all the fans.
