Hello!!!! I was so happy to be able to see you in concert at a small theatre in Illinois with some very special musician friends who had introduced me to your wonderful music. One of them had taken a class from you and was an excellent guitar player as well as physicist. I have always been intrigued by this concept about the 12 point star (if I am getting it right). My mind is not oriented mathematically but imaginatively. I just would like you to know that throughout my experience with music, seeing and hearing you in concert that evening was one of the very most special times of my life. I was lucky enough to sneak up to one of the front seats and sit Indian-style and felt myself levitating (?) during the show. You were playing requests and smiling at some of your early songs perhaps. My record collection was stolen, but I had one called PAT MARTINO LIVE with a song called, Along Came Betty (?), I think...I have been listening to Starbright lately. My friend loved Deeda. So this show was after the release of Starbright and Joyous Lake. I contacted my long lost musician friends here in St. Louis and hope that maybe one can venture out to hear you when you are playing here. I was so sad to learn of your aneurysm but so very, very happy to hear that you came back to us with your music. Thank You Very Much. With Love and Appreciation, Annie F.

Mr. Martino, My husband had a stroke on 7/11 and now has 80% back in his right hand and is beginning to play again (blues). Wondered, thinking back to your own rehabilitation,if there were any suggestions you could offer. Thank you for your time and any advice you can offer on this short but long road back. Mr. Pat Martino. I have started playing guitar 34 years ago when I was 13. I followed Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, Kenny Burrel, Lee Ritenour, Wes Montogomery...& Pat Metheny. And I only could encounter your "Exit" album four years ago. Now, I am so glad that my guitar soul have found a ultimate teacher. Please do consider to play in Hong Kong. There are quite a number of jazz enthusiasists here who would be exhilarated to meet and listen to you. Thank you.

I just downloaded the entire "East!" album from emusic.com last night and burned the CD - listened to it twice today at work. Very different from "Interchange" that I'd purchased after hearing a cut on the radio one Friday evening on my way home from work, a number of years ago. Amazing stuff! Fantastic! I look forward to seeing Mr. Martino play live at the end of the month.

Honestly, still to this second at 1:53pm on Tuesday, November 12, 2002; I have not heard any of Pat Martino's music. But by reading his story I feel a level of deepness within. So many tragedies destroy so many great people, but Pat has shown that this fact doesn't have to prove true. Returning to the greatness, and surpassing it after something so traumatic is so encouraging to me, and I thank you Pat for your story. A friend introduced me to your name, and now I am introduced to your legacy. Believe, me...I will be running to find your albums/records...I have to show my love for your gift to the world. Love and Peace, Shay.

Scott, I went to see Pat Martino on my own. Nobody else I know likes Jazz. I sat at a table with three strangers. I almost didn't go myself because I didn't want to make the trip alone. Just do it! How many chances do you get to see Pat Martino?

I just saw Pat for the first time Saturday, Nov. 9th. At first I was a little put out by the fact that it was just Gil and Pat. I wanted, "Live at Yoshi's." However, I had goose bumps the entire night. I had no idea how intimate a set I would witness. I wouldn't have had it any other way. Pat and Gil are so perfectly matched it's eerie. Pure poetry. Please release some of this on a CD! I am new to jazz, as of about three years ago. I have since listened to Jazz night and day. I immediately gravitated towards Pat's work. Not sure why, it just really appealed to me. At 34 his stuff beyond all others made me think. I even picked up playing guitar again after quite a sabbatical. I can't play like Pat, but I enjoy it just the same. After reading all of the stuff on this website I am just further amazed by everything he does. He is truly an inspiration. All of this is front and center in his music. I guess that's about it. Thanks so much for coming to Boston. If I had any idea of how great a show it was I would have gone to all four sets. It was such a pleasure to hear so many things from, "We'll Be Together Again." Pat and Gil definately need to record, "Together Again." Take care and keep moving forward. Come back to Boston soon!

Wow! Unbelievable Pat and Gil! Nina went with Gregg Mazel and Paul Kolesnikow and another friend named Paul to hear this guitar legend at the Regatta Bar Last night. Nina bit a carrot in the middle of one of the prettiest ballads, but it was cool... Here\'s a link for you:

Pat, First off, regards to Aya! Secondly, Corliss and I look forward to seeing you at Chris'. Finally a gig in our own backyard! Have you ever given thought to providing musical content, licks, passages, chordal arrangements, suggestions, etc., on the web site or are you saving it all for a book and /or video?! Regards, matt

Dear Mr. Martino, Just like a guest mentioned below, minor conversion has totally changed the way I improvise. It has become faster and more colorful. I used to improvise by ear - I play notes which sound good over the background comping (which I didn't even care about what chords they were). If the note didn't sound good, I move a fret. Not anymore. Now I can really play! I'm a bassist by the way and my life has changed because of you!

Pat, It was a tremendous thrill to hear and meet you last year at the Regatta Bar in Cambridge, Mass w/Joey deFrancesco. Your warmth and humanity was truly inspirational, and I felt proud to be a fellow guitarist. You are a national treasure, and I wish you long life, prosperity and happiness in all of your endeavors.

Pat, a million thanks for playing for us in Toronto in June. This was the first time we've had the pleasure of hearing you live in this part of the country since you performed at Convocation Hall, University of Toronto, in the fall of 1977 with Bobby Rose (another unforgettable night of jazz guitar). Let's hope it's not that long again until you come back! Thanks for being an ongoing inspiration.

Dear Pat, It was a real thril for me to meet you at Duquesne University about 5 or 6 years ago, but meeting you this past Weekend at the University of Pittsburgh(11-01-02) was even a bigger thrill. Your thoughts and insights on playing the guitar were still as facinating as ever and above all you were a kind and gracious gentleman. You may remember that Ken Karsh introduced us and he even took some pictures with us and my 4 year old son Zach. I also have some pictures that I took with yourself, Ken and Mark Koch. If you would like some of these for your site, I would be glad to send them to you. Once again thank you for a great afternoon. Sincerely, Chris Thomas
