I really love your album Footprints. I would like to know information on your custom guitar made by Sam Koontz because I really love your fat sound. You are one of the greats. Good Luck!

Dear Pat Martino: "Stone Blue" is an absolute killer cd. I have purchased xtra copies and sent them to my friends, so that they'll realize what true creative music can be. You truly are an amazing composer, guitarist, and one the most phenomenal comeback (with a vengeance, I might add) Artists of all time! Your playing has a truly hypnotic spell to it, and it is something that one must experience rather than try to describe. I am overjoyed that "Starbright" and the original "Joyous Lake" are soon to be released-- I read that the release date was February 2nd-- well, that happens to be my birthday, So I thank you very much for the present!

Dear Mr. Martino,
Thank you for allowing the musical world to be a part of your concept and theory on jazz. I acually obtained one of your CD's particurally "Cream", through one of my friends. Although I am absolutely nowhere near your level of excellency I hope one day to be blessed to be there and express what I feel more through my music. One day I hope to see you in live performance so if you are in the metropolitain St. Louis area ever, be assured I'll be right there listening.

I found your Cd while looking in a local music store and I bought it. Pretty cool we have the same name. What is your middle name. Les Paul is on your CD. I grew up in Waukesha the same town he was born. I like your music. I am a new fan. Write back if you would like.

Joyous Lake at the Keswick Theatre was a deeply felt, emotional experience, and I felt privileged to be present for it. Judging from the audience enthusiasm, many other people felt the same. Thank You! And have a blessed holiday season.

Lost track of you from about '78 on. Glad to hear that Joyous Lake and Starbright are being cd'd in Jan. Found you again on "The Maker". Full of great ideas, seasoned, lot of patience and maturity. Just bought Stone Blue, it's a beaut.
Look forward to seeing you at Birdland in Jan. Stay well and keep it coming.

Dear Pat,
You are one of my two favourite guitarists along with
Allan Holdsworth. I never cease to be amazed by your playing,
throughout your career. I just looked at the "nature of
the guitar" part of your website but I'm afraid I don't
really get it. If you could email me an explanation I
would be very grateful, though it's probably like asking
a zen monk what the meaning of life is.
Thanks,
Alex.

Saw Pat at Trump's in Atlantic City on 10-18-98, with the Joyous Lake Band and as I wrote last month was awesome. On Thrusday nite[11-12-98] I went to a drum clinc at the Club Bene in Sayerville featuring Vinnie Colatua. It had to be moved to Club Bene because of all the interest,it was free and was completley full and really great, what this has to do with Pat Martino is this.Audiophile Imports had a cd section set up & in talking with Mr.Audiophile he told me that Pat saw Tower of Power at Trump's the nite b4 he played there & after the show spoke to tower of Power & now to the point. On Pat's nextcd or so he will be using the Tower of Power band. Now that sounds really great.I'd love to hear that combination live
On another subject he said that Lenny White's Arstral Pirates is finally on cd.This is truly a great piece of fusion.Check out the audiophile website you will not believe what this guy has

My favorite album is Joyous Lake, which I was about to record and clean up on computer for my listening pleasure... I have just heard that it will be released early next year. Since there is a rather large skip on track 2, you can imagine my happiness in hearing about this...
I too would be happy to send a copy of my 1st CD. Please let me know where to send it... Peace, Love, Music

Dear Pat,
Bright moments! Just discovered your website. Love the graphics.
I did a telephone interview with you a couple of years ago when I was Music Director at WCFE-FM, Mountain-Lake Public Radio, in Plattsburgh, NY. It was one of the most fascinating interviews I ever recorded, and I still get comments from folks about how much they learned.
Thanks for all the wonderful music over the years. You are an inspiration to all of us.

Great Site! I was so pleased to find this site today.
I am also very happy that you are playing again.
I first became aware of your music about 10 years ago as a college freshman
studying saxophone with Eric Kloss. We would often
sit and listen to your recordings to learn more about phrasing and fitting technique within
broader context of feeling. You also turned me on to organ trios :-)
It was a great experience from which I learned a lot about music.
I look forward to all of your future endevors.

I recently saw Pat perform at the Iridium in NYC. The band
was amazing. After listening to Pat for the last 25 years,
and finally see him play in person was an incredible experience
What impressed me the most was how Pat greeted everyone
after the show. He made everyone feel like an old friend,
and was just an incredibly warm person. For an artist of
his caliber it was very refreshing to see. Thanks Pat.
We're listening.

Pat, I´ve been an intermitent visitor of you site. I have admired your playing and guitar technique ( I keep reviewing " Linear Expresions") but I feel that 1. Why is you music out of printing?
2. You are a really creative man and your mind is full of ideas that we expect to see flowing on your playing, composing and teaching. Don´t you feel that is time for a Web Site renewal?
You can count on my company for that pourpose and to translate it to spanish. Best regards and wishes

Sorry about the muddled thinking in my previous message. Now I haven't done any thorough resarch, so I am not sure this question is not redundant. I wonder what some of your favorite albums are? I understand that you don't want to exclude anyone, but I would love to hear what (some) of your favorite albums are (by other artists=)in various genres. Maybe what you find aurally stimulating (technique, composition, interplay wise)in them? In the last letter I was merely wondering if you might ever consider playing with those artists, while I was trying to pay homage to all the great musicians you have already worked with or those "you" might choose to work with(the reality). I haven't heard your whole discography, but I am so impressed every time I hear Gregory Herbert (where did he come from? where is he now?) and you on "Baiyina". I just heard you(?) scatting behind the solo on "Israfel"(?) for the first time yesterday. That shows you what kind of listener i really am. I will not mention any of your other albums because it would take too long to talk about what is great about 'em (to me). Do you have any kind of philosophical predeliction not to play with famous artists? It amazes me that you, who spent time with Wes Montgomery as a friend and who played with all of the great musicians that you did actually pays attention to these messages. Thanks for your attitude, as well as your obvious virtuosity "outward wisdom." I wonder if you have an opinion about the playing of the late Sonny Sharrock? Do you ever find beauty in works where there is a quesitonable lack of virtuosity but an interesting conception. Do you ever listen anything that doesn't swing. Sorry about the length of this; I certainly do not expect any particular response (if any). These are things that interest me so...
Sincerely, Wilson McCloy

For lack of unused superlatives; My dreams- which is not to exclude or negate the reality. I love to imagine what would happen if you ever played with Anthony Braxton, Pharoh Sanders, Dave Holland (again), or Keith Jarrett in somewhat acoustic settings; or Medeski, Martin, and Wood as an organ group. I know you are an artist and not a critic (old Downbeat interview), but are there some artists which you would Never play with? I think Mr. Braxton or Mr. Sanders's styles (virtuosic yet free), ability to ride subtones and harmonic tones would be... here it is... the coming to be. not the being. yet i refuse to lose my dreams (however trivial they might appear). You are much appreciated. Never Forgotten.
