I am a bass player, from argentina and I am living in Philly now, and I'd like to know how can I contact you in order to have private lessons (on improvisation).
If you can, please answer this message.
Thank you, and hope to see you soon. Juan Garcia Bossio

I can't stop listening to your version of "Just Friends" on the "El Hombre" recording. Your lines are so fluid and melodic, yet blazing. I love your sound too! I like the Tal Farlow and Barney Kessell stuff, but when I transcribe it, I have to write in and play their notes as if they were happening accurately, which often they don't. I realize part of that is their style, but I like your clean, technical approach. So technical, yet so incredibly musical. I'm thinking of Miles' solo over "Freddie" on "Kind of Blue"-type lyrical. Thanks for playing beautiful music. By the way, I got my recordings of you from emusic.com. I hope they are giving you some nice royalties. =)

hobart, In USA - Monday, March 17, 2003 at 15:04:36 (EST) Dear Pat: I had the great fortune to talk with you again at the Jazz Showcase the weekend of March 7th and 8th. Your quartet DEFINES jazz. Your performance was incendiary, both evenings! Jim Ridl and yourself must have a telepathic link , playing those duets with such grace and intensity. It was the best ensemble I've ever heard. your improvisations are not only absolutely original, they are other-worldly! I was (and I still am ) in awe. I appreciate the time you spent with me at the Showcase, as well as our first encounter, the lesson in February of 2000.
I eagerly look forward to the release of your next recording. Please continue with the wonderful music and the
fantastic performances--

dallas, tx usa - Tuesday, March 11, 2003 at 18:34:20 (EST)Great shows at Jazz Showcase in Chicago. Also enjoyed you at the Iridium in NYC. My 14 year old son, a classical double bassist, is fascinated by your music. He came Friday night, insisted on returning Sunday night (after playing a long Mahler 3 in concert)and tried to get us to stay for the late show. Perhaps he has been bitten by the jazz bug!

Wheaton, IL 60187 - Tuesday, March 11, 2003 at 10:54:33 (EST)Great to see you at the showcase for your now third annual appearance. Nice hearing you in a piano format and I was, as always, glad to hear you exploring all of your material. The ballad "Fall" knocked me out. Don't forget about "Lean Years." I won't. Ha. Heidelberg, Germany - Monday, March 10, 2003 at 11:13:08 (EST)Pat I just wanted to say that your playing was truly beautiful at the Jazz Showcase in Chicago. I was there on march 4th, 6th and 7th and drove down from KC to hear your playing. I must say I’ve never heard you more expressive then you are right now. The chemistry that you have with your current group is incredible. I think we jazz guitarist get too caught up in technique and even though your playing is inspiring to all of us it’s your musical message that holds are attention and keeps us under your spell. I hope that I can see many more of your concerts in the future.

Montclair, NJ - Monday, March 10, 2003 at 00:31:25 (EST)Hi again Pat, just a postscript to my last letter from yesterday March 6th ( Wes' birthday), I figured out that you used an Abe Rivera guitar on "Nightwings". I imagine that your "sound" on that recording has alot to do with the way they recorded you. I also realize that your sound has alot to do with the way you play. I am currently getting a great sound using a Jim Dunlop 2.0 mm pick on a new Gibson ES 446 with GHS flatwound strings, guages 52 42 32 24 17 15 and running it through an Alesis nanocompressor into an Acoustic image amp and Razors Edge cabinet. Thanks for being a great inspiration to me and many others out there.I am so glad you are in the world.

Munich, Germany - Friday, March 07, 2003 at 07:55:56 (EST)Hi Pat. I attended your early Sunday show at Catalina's in Hollywood last Sunday and I just wanted to tell you how much I enjoyed it. Your playing had tons of swing, fire and was very musical. You have a unique and syncopated way of phrasing be bop lines that really gets under my skin. Keep up the good work!

Ontario , CA USA - Thursday, March 06, 2003 at 22:15:04 (EST)Hi Pat, I've been enjoying your playing(and writing!)since the mid 70's when I was a student at Berklee and use to go hear you at the Jazz Workshop. Joe Cohn and I saw you at Iridium a little over a month ago on a snowy Sunday evening and you sounded better than ever. I love your sound on the recording "Nightwings" and was curious to know what guitar and pickup(and effects if any)you used on that session. Thanks, Mike

NYC, NY USA - Thursday, March 06, 2003 at 17:59:33 (EST)Pat, It was fun chatting with you at Catalina's tonight and especially wonderful to meet someone who appreciates Lenny Breau as much as I do. I do hope you will follow up on finding his album, Wonder Boy (or Boy Wonder), in the mid 1990s??. Think it was produced in Canada, not sure, as you may recall, he was Canadian. Your music reminded me of his and to find out that you were his good friend was awesome. This is my first time hearing you and I was transfixed. Thank you for being out there. Julie

LA, CA USA - Monday, March 03, 2003 at 04:31:02 (EST)I've always thought of you as a Musical Jedi, a Black Belt in the spectrum of Musical Sound...I know by listening to you play, that you love Music..the way that you play tells me about your thought patterns, and the way that you express your musical thoughts tell me that you try to reach your highest level within yourself...in the spirit of Charley Patton and Sonny Criss....I met you at Catalina's in LA at one of your gigs on March 1, 2003...I've always wondered what our meeting would be like,I knew that we would bump heads someday, most of my idols are gone from this place;Hampton Hawes, Jimi Hendrix,Curtis Mayfield,Sonny Criss,Eddie Harris,John Coltrane, Miles Davis,Frank Zappa,Johnny Guitar Watson,Grant Green,Donald Bailey,Blind Willie McTell,Dexter Gordon,Eddie Hazel,Peter Tosh,Charles MIngus,Fela Kuti,Rufus Thomas,Sun Ra and a few others, all gone...there are a few still here;Pat Martino,George Clinton and The Funkadelic,Sly Stone, the Isley Brothers,Cedar Walton....Well anyway Thank You for checking me out,You really helped to send me to a new level in my journey..I know that it will effect my guitar playing in a positive way...at least these days I can speak to you cats...when I came face to face with Eddie Harris (circa 1984)I could'nt speak, man he just stood there, and I could barely look at him..too bad I can't do that over..But I'll never forget it,I got some of his spirit, and when i make my music his spirit, just like yours will live on.Thanks You for making that good music. Hopefully by the time our paths cross again, I will have gotten my thing thing to swing a little.
