Dear Pat, Just dropping in again to say that, having just checked your discography, I am amazed that New View with John Handy was recorded as long ago as 1967. I can't believe I have had this album that long and it still sounds streets ahead of much of what passes for music in 1999. By the way, I also have your We'll Be Together Again album. This, too, is one of my great favourites. Thank you for the music you have made for us. Looking forward to much more from you. And how about that visit to us here? lotsluv, Chrissie

Dear Pat, Like everyone else, I truly wish you the speediest recovery, as well as a long and prosperous future. You most certainly positively affect many, many lives. I heard a recording this morning of you in a quartet setting with Randy Brecker. It was announced as "70's Jazz Pioneers, Live At Town Hall, NYC." The tune was "Sugar" and it was recorded March, 1998; it was smokin'! I can't seem to find the company (1201 Music?), or any info on the internet. Do you have any information of how this recording could be purchased? Anyone reading this who is a Pat Martino fan...whew! You gotta hear this one! Best wishes and love, Jim Fisk

Mr. Martino, I attended your guitar seminar in Oklahoma City on March 21, 1999. I am a student of Joe Settlemires. The things I learned in that seminar have tremendously improved my line playing. It has opened my eyes to so many wonderful things on the guitar. THANK YOU Sincerely, Benjamin Freeman

I just returned home from your guitar seminar in Oklahoma City, and had to let you know how impressed, inspired and invigorated it made me. I couldn't wait to take the materials and information home and dive into it. Although I'm not entirely ready for every concept you presented, your materials and presentation increased my understanding of jazz guitar dramatically. I had never even considered using augmented and diminished chords as starting points or "parent" chords. That alone was worth the price of admission. I hope to be able to hear you in concert sometime and hope I have the privilge of attending one of your seminars again.

Hello, Pat. I'm forwarding greetings for a good friend of mine and fine guitarist from the UK who had the pleasure to spend a late summer afternoon with you in 1988. Mick Hanson. He's doing well and celebrated his 50th birthday a few months back with a big party at the Mulberry Tree Pub, in Ipswich, England, his favorite and longtime jazz haunt since I've known him. It was attended by players and fans alike, he tells me. You are his No. 1 fan in England, Pat - I can vouch for that. I was stationed just outside of Ipswich at an RAF base with the USAF when I saw Mick playing at the Pub back in 1978 and we've been friends since. I set up Mick and his girlfriend in a B&B in Society Hill back in '88 so he could get together with you while Linda and I hung out on South street. When we saw Mick later that afternoon, he looked like Moses (Charlton Heston) after he came off the mountain! Now get this. We all headed back out onto South Street later that evening enjoying the summer night when we heard music coming out of a bar called GERTRUDE'S. It was Hammond organ, trumpet and drums. A wirey, elderly black man just finished his set and sat down with some folks when the music kicked up again. We looked and, to our surprise, a young white kid with dark hair was wailing away on the hammond. We all know him today as Joey DeFrancesco. It was one heck of a Saturday night for us all back then and I have Mick to thank for that as well as jazz in general - jazz guitar, especially. I surf through your website keeping Mick posted of what's happening with your music. Mick has a couple of CDs under his belt and his first bears the title of one of your songs, "Do You Have a Name?" - Spotlight Jazz / SPJ-CD 555. With the help of Ronnie Scott and some of Britain's hardworking players, Mick's CD received critical acclaim in Grammaphone Magazine as well the British newspapers. His second CD is a Hammond B-3 trio - SPY CATCHER, Lizard Records / LZDCD 111. It's very good and gutsy. I just shipped him your latest 32 Jazz release, First Light. I know he'll be surprised to get it so soon after its release. Thank you for your guestbook. I hope you have the opportunity to read this note. We just want let you know how much we appreciate your music... on both sides of the 'pond'. Man, you keep on recording and we'll keep on buying your music, Pat. Thanks for brightening our lives with your playing. God bless and take good care. Erwin Colon P.S. When are you going to play the BERKS JAZZ FEST, here in Reading? We're only 60 miles west of Philly and it's "The Bomb", as Grover put it last year. It's a 7 day festival and a HUGE SUCCESS since it started 9 years ago. I've gotten to see Steve Giordano, Jon blake, Monette Sudler, to name a few of Philly's finest. Jimmy McGriff and Hank Crawford are coming, Monette and Jon are back again as well as many, many other terrific shows... We'd loved to see you here in Outlet Shopping Heaven! Email me if your booking agent needs any contact info - I know the executive director of the Berks Arts Council. Or try www.berksjazzfest.com Ciao!

Hello Mr. Martino. I'm sixteen and play guitar. I have your Crative Force lesson videoes. I like them very much, but I'm still shakey on the augmented and diminished concepts. Anyway, I heard tou have a book which you give to all your students. Maybe you could send one my way? My address is 2115 cazadero Ca. 95421. I doubt you have the time though. Love your playing! Will you be having any shows in the San Francisco bay area anytime soon?

Hello Pat. Like so many others, I am a huge fan of your playing. I recently heard that you were ill. I hope your recovery is going well. This spring, possibly in late April, I am planning a trip to the states. I was wondering about the possibility of actually connecting with you for a couple of lessons, if I was to visit your city. Take Care.

Wow, Pat Martino. I stumbled across your site while searching for an L-5S I am interested in studying the hexagrams. My own approach to guitar is to subdivide the neck into evenly spaced groups of intervals, then derive scales or arpeggios using different numbers of notes (2, 3, or )4 per string. What literature of yours would you reccomend? I've been a fan since I first heard Desperado, then Joyous Lake. You are truly a great and creative player. Happy birthday in August Pat! Humbly yours, Rolf Johnson

Pat: You have always been an inspiration not only musically but spiritually as well. The times we spent in study long ago and recent times at gigs and Namm shows will forever be some of my most cherished memories. You have always been someone I will always look to for singular example of all that's good in this world. I just want you to know that you are in Anna's and my thougths and prayers. All the very best to you and Aya for your speedy recovery. Your former student, friend and professional colleague, Brad Strickland

Dear Pat, I am 33 years old, and have been playing Guitar since 1982. I have known of you for many years, yet it was only yesterday that I heard you play for the first time. I bought the "Head and Heart" compilation, and played "Consciousness". Beautiful work, Pat. I also remember a quote from you that went something like "I see the guitar not as an instrument to be mastered, but as a discipline to see life through". That statement means alot to me. Finally I have found your music. I just wish it hadn't taken so long. Thank You Pat, for sharing your gift.
