Pat - I saw your performance in Detroit on May 13th '05. It was a wonderful session. I was recently introduced to your music from a friend who was also at the show. God bless and I hope you keep creating for many years to come!

Mr. Pat Martino,
I had the opportunity to study with you many years ago. Your music, via the guitar, has been a source of inspiration, and is the main reason, I wanted to play Jazz guitar. I have just completed a master’s degree from Capella University, which focused on the self-creation of a Web site based on “playing through chord changes”. Ever since I heard the way you “play through chord changes”, and my late father’s (Charlie Ventura [sax]), ability to do the same, I knew I had to explore those techniques. Thank you for being a never-ending source of inspiration.

Pat, I love your playing, you are one of my fav. I was wondering if you knew about orchestration, or arranging, resolutions or any other type of orchestral writing, or if you don't, if you know someone who happens to orchestrate/arrange that maybe you could consider releasing an album of your music played with an orchestra and you soloing over?, maybe kind of like the john scofield album with orchestra?, I would love to hear your music with a large full orchestra, it must be beautiful. If it's so beautiful with only 4 or 5 instruments, I can't imagine how an orchestra would do... just wondering.

I'm a guitar player myself and I love Jazz guitar. Honestly, I'd never heard one of your albums until I picked up Think Tank in the library a couple of weeks ago. I became an instant fan. Now I'll definitely be looking for all your albums and building a collection. Keep up the good work.

Hi Pat: I have several of your CDs. All great. Back in the 50's my wife and I heard and saw the great "Art Tatum" at Birdland. Pure genius. I put you in that category.I am not a musician, just a lover of great music. Your rapid rides totally knock me out. Play on and on.

Pat, This note is long overdue. Thank you, thank you, thank you for Joyous Lake. The title track is my single favorite piece of music and, to me, is actually beyond music. I think it is a divine manifestation of the creative spirit. All the best to you. EE

Pat, I am tentatively planning on attending your concerts at the Bistro, (St. Louis). I have attended two of your previous concerts and have no doubts regarding the quality and excitement of any of your concerts; however, could you please post or let me know who the musicians will be and/or the theme (Tribute to Wes Montgomery), etc. Your Itinerary page does not list this. Thx, Duane

Mr. Martino, we were looking forward to enjoying an evening with you at the Jazz Showcase in Chicago in 2004, but an unforeseen accident occurred on Christmas day, that rendered me unable to walk for three months. My daughter and I, since 1994, as birthday gifts have given each other Jazz Concerts every year and yours at the Showcase was to be the pivotal point in our series. Your life and career is an inspiration, along with countless others, brought me back to the reality of living life. We look forward to experiencing one of your dynamic performances in the near future. You are a constant and an inspiration to the conceptualization of my own musical experience.

I find it very sad that a friend and a GREAT musician, Mark Manetta (Rochester, NY , Manione band,MANY other bands) has passed away on June 7th due to complications with diabetes. It is TRULEY a loss to the whole music scene. I am thankful that I was able to meet and become friends with him, due to work he had done with my father (and his band). My heart goes out to his family, especialy his children and his friends. Its so terrible, he was too young.

Dear Mr. Martino, I am searching for a copy of "Firedance", but every service lists it as out of print or unavailable. Is this recording no longer available? All the best.

Dear Mr. Martino, I live in Singapore. My friend in Nagoya booked a table in your Nagoya Blue Note live date, i.e. on 24 July '05. I sincerely look forward to your live and forthcoming discs. I need to shake hand with you to encourage myself to improve my guitar and music!! :-)

Dear Mr. Martino, I just want to say that you have been an inspiration to me. My original guitar teacher was replaced by a "jazz" guitarist. He told me to buy two albums and Consciousness was one of them. I never get tired of "Along Came Betty" - 32 years later! I also loved Both Sides Now. Keep up the great work. I think that you are doing a great service by sharing your music theory with the people. Please give me the heads up if you come to Atlanta or Athens, GA. All the best, Myron

Hello Pat, I'm a longtime fan of your playing and it's a pleasure to be writing you. I'm happy to see you still performing and continuing your legacy. The first record I had from you was Baiyina and it blew my mind. I played it for my cousin and he loved it so much that I ended up getting him a copy on CD for Christmas that year. I would love to talk to you about working together. I run a label with my partner here in the S.F. Bay Area called New Medina Music. I'm an Arabic percussionist and hip-hop producer and would love to highlight your playing on some of my material. We currently have a 12" vinyl single arriving in stores nationwide within the next few weeks and we've been getting a great response thus far. I hope all is well with you and I look forward to talking with you soon. Best wishes, Edeeq Betrous

Pat, I had the extreme pleasure of meeting you over 2 years ago backstage at The Tralf in Buffalo. Pat, we have lost one of our own up here in Rochester, New York. Guitarist Mark Manetta unfortunately passed away a few nights ago. He was 49 and left a wife and two children behind. Pat, I know that Mark was in contact with you from time to time and I wanted to make sure that you knew about this painful news. Mark and I were in grade school together and I certainly followed his career, often would get to hear him perform, and interviewed him on my jazz radio program. He had a huge heart, a great sense of humor, and a gift to play music!

I was at Birdland when Pat played there in early June 2005. The sets were inspired by Wes Montgomery's music, including both Montgomery compositions (e.g., "Full House") and jazz tunes identified with Wes (e.g., "Impressions"). Needless to say, the gig was sublime. I eagerly await buying the CD if/when these tunes are recorded and released on CD. I hope that happens soon!
