Hey Pat, my wife and I saw you in 2001 at the Catalina club in Hollywood, and Joey DeFranceso was with you on Hammond B-3, I forget the guys name who was on the drums, but you guys are amazing! I since picked up a song of yours called "Downtown", Pat just keep up the good work, you knock me out with your amazing abilities. By the way I met you briefly at a clinic in the San Fernando valley, and John Pizano was there. God Bless you and your fine musicianship!!!!!

Dear Pat, As much as I have tried to stay away from a painful experience, I can't seem to walk away, I guess it's not my way. For what it is worth, I thank you for your musical influence...I find myself still practicing your lines as exercises every day, and they are usually the first lines that I practice. They have provided answers and a beautiful way to deal with certain technical issues that I have wanted to overcome...and I love the way they sound. I have always had trouble with "father figures", so I regret having fallen into an unfortunate pattern. This weekend I had the opportunity to meet and speak with another artistic hero of mine, Jackson Browne. He was genuine and gracious...but he was also very busy. I got a glimpse of the kind of hard work that goes into touring and how much giving it entails. This time, I tried not to bite the hand that fed my artistic soul... I wish you all the best, and thank you for what you continue to give, Jeff Newell

Pat, (about this talking/no-talking during the show debate) I think in general it's fine that there isn't much talking. One thing that drives me to distraction is the way some musicians get really cutesy and talk too much and I just want to tell them to shut up and play. Sometimes I have forgotten the name of the tune, however, but other than that I like the bare minimum talking approach.

hello pat, thank you again for a great clinic at the guitar congress its been 5 years since my brain injury, having had all types of physical therapy programs playing guitar has been the most effective for me.but I would like to study nature of the guitar in more detail and use it with dissimilar music types I have allways played many styles of guitar.is the nature method applicable? aloso I will get back to you about the new brain test the U of M is doing on me, they mesure finger dexterity while under MRI both before and after electrostimulation on my left hand. the first week of this went well and I will go back every 10 weeks or so to document MRI findings.of new brain pathways to nerons on my r.brain. Pat, Thanks for taking the time to explain The Nature of Guitar at the World Guitar Congress. Your answers to the participant's questions were illuminating and the examples you played helped me to understand. Of course, your set at the concert was inspiring. Thanks for a great week. - Jeff

Pat, sorry to keep writing to you, but I have just read on your site, that you will be going to Milano in July so I have written to all my cousins in Italy to advise them and asked them to do their best to come and see you play and God willing maybe one or two can meet you and hopefully give you my best wishes in person; wish I could be there too.

Pat, well said; and I agree with you. Very wise. Just wanted to let you know my own feelings on that matter and to give you something back for all the joy you have given me through your music and advice given, both on your videos or on the back of some of your album covers or books. Thank you so much. God bless you always.

Dear Pat, re David's comments, perhaps he hasn't been to too many jazz concerts. Perhaps he may not fully appreciate the real honour in having had the opportunity to see you play live. I have been to countless jazz concerts, Joe Pass, Oscar Peterson, Bruce Forman,Neils Pederson and too many mention where never a word is spoken and I didn't not find that rude or otherwise; the mere fact that they were there to play and gave their absolute best was more than a pleasure for me and I was thrilled to be able to see these giants play live as I would be to see you. I thought it was almost an understood thing that we come to hear you play and by your presence and performance you are showing all of you care and appreciate our attendance. It's the same when I go to a classical concert; there is no talking(or very rarely), just music and it connects us because the music, the performance, says it all. So I am as always envious that many people have the opportunity to see you play live and I don't. Maybe some day. God bless you. We are all lucky to have you and I trully hope David's comments did not upset you , honest as it may have been. You deserve better.

Hi pat you graciously signed my World Guitar Congress book at your clinic. I am not a jazz guitar player in fact I'm not really sure what kind of guitar player i am. I am what you would call an advanced beginner and play blues, rock, country a little jazz, but i just love playing anything. The whole Jazz guitar thing is a bit out of my reach right now but again i love the sound. The nature of the guitar handout is exactly what i need in order to further my playing. I thought that after your discussion i had it figured out, until, I got home. well, I,m going to use this and FIGURE it out. Thanks for your inspiring clinic d Mike

Just a belated note to let you know I enjoyed your concert at the Dakota back in March. I also attended your concert there two years previous. Although the two concerts were somewhat different (musicians, content), remaining the same was the musical honesty, (no gimmicks, the music stood for itself). I also enjoyed our conversations after the performances. Hope you will return there soon. P.S. See what you can do about recording with Buddy Emmons.

Pat I enjoyed your set at the World Guitar Congress and as far as I am concerned you can acknowledge or not acknowledge anyone you want. After all YOU are the artist and it's your show. I had never seen you live and got a good feel for your kind of jazz. I am a music teacher from alabama who just happens to play the guitar. I have never been a fan of jazz but your performance turned me on to something that I would have never gotten in Alabama. I have traditionally listened to rock and roll. I truly enjoyed it. Kev.

David, ....... I'm sorry about your feelings. Jazz has no rules or regulations but it does ask us to try and understand the conditions of the moment with an open mind. Most of all, thanks for being honest. I hope that we cross paths again. Until then I send you my best regards.

Saw your set last night (6/4/04) at World Guitar Congress and enjoyed it (first time I have seen you live), but must say I was put off by your failure to acknowledge your audience in any way- not a nod, not a wave, not a bow, not a 'thank you', not a 'this is my band' - NOTHING. You came on, played your set, and walked off. I'm not talking about "ARE YOU HAVING A GOOD TIME, (insert name of city you are in here)?" phony banter. I'm talking about mutual appreciation. I appreciated your set, and assume others did as well, and I like it when an artist appreciates that people came to see him or her play- and lets them know it. When they don't, I wonder whether they cared about their audience or not. At today's ticket prices, I'll reserve my concert-ticket dollar for those who do.

Hi Pat, thanks for the music. We enjoyed the performance you did in Las Vegas recently. We enjoyed meeting you at the 'Blue Note' in Las Vegas when it was still open. At my work place I mentioned seeing your recent concert, and one of my customers said he is your 2nd cousin. He told me when you said, happy birthday, to a family member at your last show here, that was for his dad. Thanks again for taking up the guitar the 2nd time, and for your music theory.
