Pat,
How about some trivia. Do you remember a drummer from the 60's who filled in for your band the "Jazz Bombers" at the "Club 13" and was hired as your permanent drummer. We worked together about a year as you established yourself as a jass guitarist. You had finished studying with Wes Montgomery and we jammed with Charles Earlin in his garage when he was swithching from Sax to Organ.I used to live in South Philly then, now live in LA area. Next time you get to LA contact me and we can talk about the old days. My son is studying guitar.
The name then was Rick Cristi.

Pat, I drove from North Carolina to Buffalo (where I grew up) and was fortunate enough to catch your show. This was the first time I've seen you perform although I have many of your discs(albums). Needless to say, I was very impressed with your ability and phrasing. I was also amazed to see that you did not employ your pinky finger on your left hand very often unless I was not seeing correctly. I don't know if there is a reason for this or not but it surely did not affect the outcome. My teacher used you as an example to me on how a long phrase should be structured as to keep its momentum as well as musicality when soloing. It was even better seeing and hearing it live. I also have always, and did enjoy the sound you got on your axe. Jim Ridl.....what can one say, a truly majical player....states wonderful themes in his solos and really keeps the momentum going also. I live in the mountains of North Carolina (Boone to be exact...the home of Appalachian State University). I wonder if there would be any way we could entice you to come here and perform. I am in regular contact with the professor of Jazz studies, so if I could somehow help you make that a reality...let me know. As you can imagine, we don't get the players up here that a larger city gets, and I know alot of folks that would appreciate you coming. Thanks for a wonderful show and thank Jim for me also. Respectfully, James Schaller

I've seen most of 'em, & heard most of 'em. Your performance at the Tralf in Buffalo was the most enjoyable event I have ever attended. I thank God I am alive to see such things.

As a serious student of Jazz Guitar, I already knew that Pat is the best of the best. There are no other players who can play lines like that. I am so thrilled that I had the opportunity to see Pat and Jim perform in Buffalo on June 21. This was a great experience.

Mr. Martino. I have recently begun the difficult transition from R&R to jazz and as part of the learning process my teacher, a great local player, Tom Lagana, has steered me toward you. I picked up the CD "Timeless since one of the tunes I am working on is "I Remember Clifford". This CD just blew me away. What a cool sound. Thanks.

The first time I met you was at the Gibson plant in Nashville Tenn. 2 two years ago. I am from upstate New York and drove 17 hours to attend this event. My boyfriend and I were very honored to have the opportunity to hear you play, and talk to you for a short time. We enjoyed it so much that we atended your performance at the Tralf in Buffalo N.Y.June 21. It was also worth the 3 hour drive. You mentioned a club that you played at in the 1950's in Buffalo New York. I forgot the name of the club and wonder if you would be so kind as to e-mail it to me. Also please thank Mr. Ridl for his wonderful performance. Thank you. Rosemary Nicotera

I am mathematician(thoretical math/lecturer)in CCNY and I am changing my carrier to become a student of jazz guitar in City Colelege. I have been studying Pat Martino's philosophy for a couple of years now, and it's an amazing mathematical model. The quote about piano being associated with addition and guitar with multiplication is a conjecture that really interests me. Also the assosiation of letters to numbers ets (think tank) is such a creative process that I wish will continue for ever in the minds of artists. Thank you Pat Martino.

Hey Pat/Sensei,
Thanks for the new Chromatic Pivots section in Nature of the Guitar. Not used to moving one finger more that one or two frets. Cool technique!
Have also enjoyed the instructional videos you have done!! Hope to someday own the Pat Martino Model Guitar too...saving...a Strat will do for now.
I have been a fan since the Desperado album. Met you twice in Seattle at Jazz Alley. Co-incidentally we arrived at the the club at the same time and I was honored to hold the door for you and your associate, who was carrying your guitar. You later signed my "Live at Yoshi's" CD and spoke to me as if I was a friend. Thanks!
Please take good care of your health Pat...we need you!
Thanks again virtuoso mentor,
rj
P.S. I showed a friend how to turn diminished chords into Dominant 7ths today (like in your lesson material) and told him to visit your site. Maybe a simplified version of that idea, as in the old "Guitar Player Magazine" interview, showing the voicings, would benefit some of your player/fans. It opens the door to some powerfull substitutions!
Thanks again.

HI PAT!!
I wanted to call today to say hello. I started practicing sometime today and just realized it was 1 A.m.

Hello Pat. I can't possibly tell you how respectful I am of your playing. Since I started studying your Nature of the Guitar theories I began to practice even more and became even more inspired. I was wondering if you've ever explored the art and theories of Alex Grey. Most of his work deals with anatomically correct images of people experiencing some higher level of interconnectedness and his books are utterly mind-blowing. You should look into them if you get a chance. I believe you'll find them useful as well. Hope to see you at Birdland on the 24th.

Just found the website, after spending the morning having a Pat Martino day and playing Desperado, Stone Blue, The Maker, Well be together again and East. Looking forward to the new Blue Note with Lovano. The recent stuff since the surgery is pretty impressive but I still love the East album probably because it was this album that introduced me to your playing, I wore the vinyl copy out and am pleased to have the CD now. Very upset I missed seeing you when you came to the UK (with de Francesco). Any plans to visit the UK again in the near future. Thanks for all the pleasure you have given me over the past 20 odd years, may you have many more successful and productive years to come.
