The first thing to do is to thank each and every one of you for the stimulation you've always taken the time out to provide to me. Your compliments as well as your complaints tell me that you care to offer your opinions and that in itself is extremely rewarding for any artist in any field. As much as I would love to spend some extended time for each of your interests, at the moment it's impossible; since I'm overloaded with priority. Although, there is one entry that I personally find necessary to respond to; if only to clarify its meaning. Dear Mr. or Mrs. LaGosh?.., The Nature of Guitar is not based upon any Philosophy; (most of all from the I Ching itself) but upon 6 Strings and every possible combination of those strings; which can be see n in the graphic display of 6 seperate lines. I do hope someday that I might have the chance to cross paths and take the time out to personally thank you for your kind comments; which are quite stimulating; unfortunately in a very negative way.

Pat, have loved your work since a great teacher named Ed Finney gave me a copy of El Hombre. Saw show at the Iridium a couple of years ago and especially enjoyed the tune "On The Stairs". Any chance of doing another organ trio record? Thanks for the great moments. PEACE.

With all the proper respect due great masters of an art, I have questions with the "nature of guitar" material on this site: Hexagrams-so I can find the I-ching hexagram for happiness in a G-chord, who cares?, how does this help me? Guitar/Piano comparison: These two paragraphs are so riddled with contradictions they are meaningless.

Just watched one of your videos. Sure gave me some new goals. Taking lessons from Michael Hullihan in Painesville OH. Also enjoy listening to Tony Janflone from Pitts. Both very excellent players. Heard Tony on Gene Ludwigs new cd - back on the track. Take care and God bless you.

Nobody's mentioned Grease 'n Graavy with Willis Jackson. That was a while ago...talk about blue. I live about 50 miles northwest of Philly and wanted to inquire about whether you were teaching and details about that.

Sr. Martino, You are a huge influence to me, as well as guitar players around the world (I'm sure you've heard this one before). I play in a group with James Genus' cousin, Corey and I can't wait until you play in LA (hopefully with James). Thank you f or all of the inspiration!

Dear Pat Martino; With the release of STONE BLUE, I am once again astonished-I must confess that I covet all of your works and that I'm very grateful to the current reissues on cd. Every one of your performances is an EVENT- a moment of genius captured in sound. FIREDANCE is a testimonial to those who "think" they have heard it all- you never cease to amaze. Many times I have watched the "Live at Ethels" video in awe. I cannot agree with any email here that contains complaint or detraction, because I hear each note, each phrase of your BRILLIANT improvisation as a jewel, a precious sonic stone-- the likes of which that sends those of us who play the guitar back again for further study, to rethink what we presumed we already knew. Please continue the great music--it is a G odsend in an otherwise bleak and sterile world. I wish you and yours all the best of everything for years to come. Thank you.

Pat,you are truly one of the greatest guitarists to ever play a guitar. I first became aware of you with Joyous Lake and Starbright in the 70's when I was in my middle teens. I was just discovering jazz through fusion at the time and I immediately fell in love with your style and ability. I have purchased just about everything on CD that I could find since then.I love all of the new stuff you have put out in the 90's as well as your old recordings.Unfortunately I still have not been able to find those first two recordings on CD that originally turned me on to you. For now I am glad that I still have a turntable! We would love to see you in Portland Oregon some time. Thanks for everything.

Just got "Stone Blue" today, and it is smokin'. I'm afraid I was very disappointed with the duets album previous to "Stone Blue." Not with Michael Hedges and Mike Stern, but many of the others. It seemed like the label just wanted you teamed up with th e most "popular" artists rather than teaming you up with some people really worthy of recording along side you, i.e., John McLaughlin, George Benson, Chick Corea, Herbie Hancock, Michael Brecker, Keith Jarrett, etc. "Stone Blue" puts you back on track, I' d say. Keep up the great work, and I hope to see you performing in my town soon. Thanks...

I JUST PURCHASED FOOTPRINTS ON 32 JAZZ. THE SOUND QUALITY IS SO POOR COMPARED TO THE VINYL RECORD. THE CD SOUNDS LIKE IT WAS RECORDED WITH TOWELS COVERING THE MICROPHONES. WHAT HAPPENED?

Dear Mr. Martino, For many years I have seen your albums but never purchased one. That is until recently when i grabbed baiyana and fell in love with it Then came desperado and footprints, now I can not get enough I think that your music is wonderful. I am a young jazz listner, only 24 and you are perhaps one of the most graceful and peaceful players to ever touch a guitar. I did not realize that you were playing in saratoga tomorrow, i unfortunalty will miss it. I wish you many years of peaceful exisitence and beautiful playing. An adoring fan Brian.

Dear Pat, I want to thank you for the great pleasure your music has given me over the past years. I first heard you around '72 and was forever changed musically. God knows how many LP's of "Pat Martino Live" I wore out trying to emulate your technique and sound. I took lessons in the mid 70's from a teacher who came from a similar school and who grew up in your area (Robert Conti) and I was forever bugging him to show me how you improvised. What is really nice is to to be able to walk into a record store today and actually find a "Pat Martino" section. Also thanks for the reissue of "Well Be Together Again" (one of your best). Looking forward to hearing your latest and the reissue of "Joyo us Lake". Again thanks for the inspiration both musically and personally.
