Great website. I was checking out the Record Library database page and I have one question: who the heck alphabatizes their albums (or anything) by the artist's FIRST NAME? But we'll let you slide, because you are the Man!

The more I listen, the more I love the music you have created. I'm especially enjoying the solo pieces and am really looking forward to seeing you in a more intimate setup (duets) this coming March. I continue to be your inspired fan! Much love, Jeff

I live in the town of the north in Japan. Recently, FM radio station was opened in my small town. I will take charge of the program of jazz. Of course, the music which flows first in the program is Pat’s tune of "Phineas Trane." It was determined before. Furthermore, I go to the south in Japan, Fukuoka, in order to work on February 17. The concert of "PAT" is the day. Naturally, I saved. I expect. Please make it healthy and take care. I am waiting.

Thanks Pat, band and crew for making the Iridium (NYC) run so delightful. To hear the new material opened up this way was a treat and I hope others out there can hear this soon. Thanks also for the clinic at Guitar Center as it was helpful, fun and informative with a loving, human touch to it. Looking forward to a possible run my way in May. Go get 'em, Pat. You sound great!

Hi Pat,
Have known your music and sound since i was in my late teens back in the mid seventies and was really impressed by your music and distinctive sound. Have been playing guitar within a number of genres for over thirty-five years, yet jazz guitar is one of the most vital, expressive and musically informative in the world's wealth of guitar directions.
I hope the following is not an uncomfortable issue, the if you can offer any assistance i would be ever so grateful.I found out well after the fact that you had "struggled" through a brain tumour - something i would have never known about if a good friend of mine had not mentioned it to me, considering your recent performance. This topic is of utmost importance to me at present because nine days ago i had a seizure and after an ER visit, catscan and MRI, it was determined that i had mengenoma (brain tumour on my right prefrontal lobe membrane). Now i have some understanding as to why i've been so "dumb" for some time now. Of course i'm concerned about surviving surgery and am also concerned about my musical ability and general brain function, post-operation. Have already, especially in the last week noticed a blatant decrease in playing ability and interest, aversion to working on tunes - reading, composition and so forth.
Any advice?
Peace brother man,
shane

Dear Mr. Martino,
I am a 27 year old aspiring jazz guitarist, and I have recently discovered your fantastic music. I have found your playing to be beautiful for both its technical virtuosity and emotional weight. You have inspired me to practice with dedication, humility and love. Thank you. Will you be coming to the Portland, Oregon area, at any time? You should, it's beautiful, and your presence would be appreciated. Also, where can I learn more about your playing style, particularly how you play those sixteenth notes with such speed, precision and feeling?

Hello Mr. Martino, I am a young 16 year old jazz guitarist from North Carolina who reveres your playing. I have modled my picking style after the one you have utilized throughout the years, and find it to be very efficient. I thank you for being a source of inspiration to myself and all of the young aspiring jazz musicians out there. Rick Jones of Acoustic Image amps (who works locally) is a family friend of ours. I have heard that you are generous of your knowledge and was wondering if you may have any advice for me in pursuing music. Thanks for your time, and I look forward to seeing you live soon.

Hi Pat, I just received an email from a couple of students of mine who are currently in England; they saw you perform at Ronnie Scott's and wrote to me saying you were the most amazing guitarist they are ever likely to see. They knew I would be happy to know that they thouroughly enjoyed your playing. I'm not sure if they met you or not, I asked them to give you my best wishes. For now, I thought you would like to know the above and I am extremely jealous that they have seen you play live and I , as yet , have not. I really hope and pray that you will some day consider coming to Australia. I'll be in the front row and will insist that every student of mine come and see you too. God bless. Tony Calabro

Pat, I've been corresponding with Emmett Chapman (an accomplished stick player) who I recently shared some information about a dream I had.
http://www.stick.com/articles/offsetmodal/
Emmett has developed a modal system that is tied to sacred geometry which he will be releasing a book on soon. To keep things short my dream had to do with visualizing shapes in connection with music, which is why I found Emmett's work so interesting. In my dream the shapes provided a visual road map enabling me to understand how to find new directions and simplify complexities in music yet I'm still looking for real answers as to how to do this. I've since explored this a bit further and when I found your site was very pleased to learn of your interest in sacred geometry and would very much like to find a copy of the Nature of the Guitar. I was unable to find this through Amazon so I'm hoping perhaps there is some way I can receive a copy of it.
Thank you.

I'm a former student of Pat's in the late '70s and in fact, I was the one who commissioned the portrait of Pat the Tricia Paveso made that is in your gallery section.
I have written a book which I'd like to talk to Pat about writing a quote or forward for it if he is interested. Please let me know how to proceed.
Sincerely,
Jack Zucker

Dear Mr Martino:
You have been an inspiration for me. I recently recovered from a ring finger sprain on my left hand by continuous shedding trying to imitate some of your excellent passages on cd,s ranging from El Hombre, Live at Yoshi's, Footprints up to Think Tank. Thank you for being a constant source of inspiration and I look forward to attending a live performance of yours in the future

Pat, I often listen to Philly's 90.1 WRTI in the late night/early morning hours. Several times lately the DJ has attempted to play the selection "Dozen Down" from your "Think Tank" album only to have the disc malfunction about halfway through the cut. Perhaps somebody could drop off another copy so the listeners could get to enjoy more of your fine new release. Sincerely, Brian McMahon

Dear Pat,
My brother is a HUGE FAN of yours and has been for years. He recently missed a workshop of yours here in Seattle because he didn't find out about it in time and was very disappointed about it. I'm just writing to ask if you'll be doing anything like that in the near future and whether you have a mailing list. If so, we'd like to get on it!
Thanks and HAPPY NEW YEAR to you!
