Pat,
First, Saturday nights show at Iridium was great. You were correct when you advied the audience how special it was for such great gutarists to be in one venue. I knew from your able liner ntes on "The Maker" that the chemistry between you and Jim Ridl was special but in person you simpathetic playing was amazing. The duet touched the audience very deeply...beautiful. Your drummer and bassist were excellent as well.
Are you teaching? I have been playing for a while. Your music is inspiring and I'm glad you are getting wider recogniton. There were many young people in the audience. They were amazed!

Salt Lake City, Ut USA - Saturday, January 25, 2003 at 12:09:16 (EST)Many thanks for this guest book to Pat! I studied with you in the mid eighties and have always been a most sincere fan. An ex student of mine from Italy submitted a query in your book, since he had lost my whereabouts. We hooked up, and he put me on a little tour in south of Italy, Bari performing and teaching seminars and recording a disc with local musicians on a small label. Thanks again for helping me reestablish this connection. Hope this finds you in perfect health.

Warsaw, Poland - Friday, January 10, 2003 at 04:47:35 (EST)Next to the late jazz guitarist Harry Leahey, Pat is the most exciting and melodic guitarist today. He never gets into the showmanship as you see in lesser guitarists. Pat just comes in and plays. Never a dull engagement. It would be great for him to do a date at the Deerhead Inn in Pa. Many other great!! jazz musicians play and live in that area, Phil Woods, Keith Jarrett, Steve Gilmore, Bill Goodwin and drummer Glenn Davis, along wtih house pianist John Coates.

The 1972 version of "Sunny" ("Live" album) remains my favorite sample of seamless 16th note arpeggios. Years ago, I slowed it down on a 16rpm record player, trying to learn it note for note. It still eludes me. Has it ever been transcribed?
