If you could, would you contact me by e-mail? I see that you'll be in St. Paul at the Dakota in March, and I want to see if I could interest you in doing a short clinic at Musictech College where I'm teaching these days.
Hope you can, but either way, I'll see you in March.
Be cool, Mike. Mike Elliott <mikeelliott (at) mediaone.net>

- Monday, January 21, 2002 at 18:04:39 (EST)Last year I drove back to DC from the Tin Angel in a blinding blizzard so this year having seen the forecast I booked a motel for the night and enjoyed the unexpected treat of hearing back to back shows. My apologies for gloating and pity those who didn't brave the weather. I'm convinced that the "Angel" is the ultimate Pat Martino experience. Jim Ridl is a consumately sensitive accompanist and a virtuoso/composer in his own right and the audience to their credit hangs breathless on every note. And if that weren't enough, Pat was dressed to the nines in an exquisite jacket and tie. Thank you Pat & Jim for an unforgettable night.

Pennsauken, NJ USA - Sunday, January 20, 2002 at 02:35:29 (EST)Mike Tribula ....... Dear Mike,
It was a real pleasure to read about the feelings you've shared; thanks, I appreciate.
As to recommending an appropriate venue, there's nothing better than watching some serious musicians honestly enjoy interacting with each other; ( of course, along with everyone else that's present ).
As to when and where, I think that the best way is to take a look in the "Itinerary" window. It contains the dates, the players and the locations.
When you decide and bring him to a performance please feel free to come on over and say hello; I'll be looking forward!
Until then, all my best wishes!
Pat Martino

Tilburg, Netherlands - Thursday, January 17, 2002 at 14:18:14 (EST) Dear Pat,
Some years ago in a Bass Player Interview, Anthony Jackson mentioned, "The Four Pieces of Paper." This was where you had taken "The Thesaurus of Musical Scales & Patterns by Nicholas Slonimsky and broken them down to four pieces of paper. In 1987, I was playing with a guitarist who had taken lessons with you(his name escapes me at the moment). I mentioned the pieces of paper to him. He made me a copy of the exercises. I've misplaced my copy of the exercise and I wondered if I could obtain it from you or if you could direct me to where I could get another copy of it. I would be most appreciative. It has made a big difference in my understanding of the harmonic possibilities that can be attained on my respective instrument. Thanks & Peace, Lou Castro(Bassist with Arthur Adams and Mandrill)
