Dear Pat. I have been a guitarist for nearly twenty years and have long heard good things about you. When Shawn Lane said how good you were, I purcased your "All Sides Now" CD not knowing what to expect. I loved it and it is a treat to have those guests who are also among my favorites. Your two-volume "Creative Force" videos blew me away and I watch all the time. May the Lord grant you many blessed years. P.S. Would you object to your video being shown to a College music class? There are so many questions I would love to answer with regards to each of your additions to my Guestbook; (which by the way I deeply appreciate) but I'm sure that you understand how difficult it is at times. So for the moment let me share with you something that I personally received from a very close friend today; something that I feel is worthy to share with everyone. "Once in a while you meet someone, and soon you both discover the two of you are truly something special to each other. . . You share your thoughts and feelings so relaxed, so openly, and right away you know your friendship's truly meant to be." Life isn't about keeping score. It's not about how many friends you have Or how accepted you are. Not about if you have plans this weekend or if you're alone. It isn't about who you're dating, who you used to date, how many people you've dated, or if you haven't been with anyone at all. It isn't about who you have kissed, It's not about sex. It isn't about who your family is or how much money they have Or what kind of car you drive. Or where you are sent to school. It's not about how beautiful or ugly you are. Or what clothes you wear, what shoes you have on, or what kind of music you listen to. It's not about if your hair is blonde, red, black, or brown Or if your skin is too light or too dark. Not about what grades you get, how smart you are, how smart everybody else thinks you are, or how smart standardized tests say you are. It's not about what clubs you're in or how good you are at "your" sport. It's not about representing your whole being on a piece of paper and seeing who will "accept the written you." LIFE JUST ISN'T. But, life is about who you love and who you hurt. It's about who you make happy or unhappy purposefully. It's about keeping or betraying trust. It's about friendship, used as a sanctity or a weapon. It's about what you say and mean, maybe hurtful, maybe heartening. About starting rumors and contributing to petty gossip. It's about what judgments you pass and why. And who your judgments are spread to. It's about who you've ignored with full control and intention. It's about jealousy, fear, ignorance, and revenge. It's about carrying inner hate and love, letting it grow, and spreading it. But most of all, it's about using your life to touch or poison other people's hearts in such a way that could have never occurred alone. Only you choose the way those hearts are affected, and those choices are what life's all about. This is not your ordinary chain letter. Depending on how many people you send this to, your life will change dramatically! If you send this to: 0-people: Something terrible will happen such as losing a best friend. 1-5 people: You will have 1 good day. 6-10 people: You will have a good week, and the person you like will ask you out. 11-15 people: You will have a good month, and a great surprise every day. 16 & up: You will have a successful life and all of your dreams will come true! SEND THIS TO EVERYONE YOU KNOW!!

Just got "All Sides Now." Your collaborations with Michael Hedges (God save his soul) and Mike Stern are my favorites. Glad you are back after all these years and willing to work with the "young blood." Dont stop! Keep experimenting. I would love to hear you experiment more with your electric tone. Take care.

I saw you in Philadelphia in around 1975, Kenwood Dennard was playing drums. It was so heavy I came back every night. Is that same band going to play live anywhere? Please let me know, I'll fly anywhere to see it.

Dear Mr. Martino, It's fair to say that your spirit to create, as well as your music itself, has been a true inspiration to me, and has kept me going through MY hard times...You have also taught me that: All things have the nature of mind, Mind is the chief, and takes the lead. If the mind is clear, whatever you do or say, will bring happiness that will follow you like a shadow. Bless You and Thank You! Bill...

I recently purchased the re-release of your album "Footprints" on a long-ago given recommendation--WHAT A FANTASTIC CD!! Mr. Martino, could you please express and amplify the will of the people to the scum (I'm trying to be nice), who own/run the record labels to release the vast amounts of music in their vaults--It would be nice to have this music released as originally recorded. Life is extremely too short not to have beautiful music in all genres available. Why, with the trouble and dissonance and bedlam in the world today...I apologize for using three slots on your site (I made errors on the other two--you may erase them).

Dear Pat, One more fan says hello from the great white north way up here on the west coast of Canada.Yes ,you guessed it, I am yet another guitar play'n fool; willbe all my life. I just scored your "Force One book". Very nice to hear your single lines over the changes. Very happy to hear you are very busy and playing. How about a book dealing with a philoshophical insight into playing. Sort of a Jim Hall/ Zen discussion on why you choose the lines you choose.Something that goes beyond the so-called right scale choice for a given chord(s). Or maybe not. Hi Pat- definitely looking for your next recording. You know, one of my first jazz influences was The Jon Bartel Thing on Capitol ('69). They did the best version of "So What" (besides Miles Davis) I've ever heard. Do you know (or anyone else) how I can contact any of these people or how to get their recording (cass OK)? I've been looking for years. Thanks. Keep on Grooving.

Dear Pat, I saw you at Birdland in November and was very happy to see and hear that you were playing as great as ever. You have always been one of my favorite guitar players. I especially like when you use to play in the B-3 venue. Do you think that you will ever re-release your recording with Don Patterson, I think it was called Demensions Four? I hope you do an organ trio recording soon. I think that I have just about all of your recordings. I hope to get to see you soon. God Bless You Pat! Love, Peace, Health & Happiness! Mike

Mr. Martino, Hope your doing fine these days. I wanted to thank you for being such a great inspiration in my musical journey. Your book "Linear Expressions" is a valuable tool for any guitarist seeking the style of your inprovisation. What else can I actually say to a musical genius. All your albums are A+. The best of luck to you in the future and God Bless

Hi Pat, First heard you play donw in Cape May and became an immediate fan. This was 13 years ago when I took my first vacation after starting my own business. Seeing and hearing you play was the highlight of my vacation. I sat at the bar with my mouth open and was amazed and memorized. When I came home, I happened to mention your name to a musician; he was overjoyed at my response to your music and immediately gave me one of your tapes. I've been extolling your musical prowress ever since. Take care and I h ope to see you live again real soon. Myrna Hildebrant
