Mr. Martino, I've been a great fan of yours ever since I found your "The Visit" album at Tower Rcords in Hollywood back in '73. I have recently gone thru your "Jazz Guitar" book containing the 14 hotlines. This book is one of the best books I've ever gone thru. Thank you so much for helping myself improve on my single line soloing. I am a guitar student of the late Joe Pass and I have also performed with him. Steve Schuffman 208) 345-1970

Hello! I've enjoyed your music for many years. Your new site is also great. I was intrigued by your digital art in the gallery. Some share a similar sensibility to that of Paul Klee. Thank you for your expressions.

Happy birthday, Mr. Martino! Over the weekend, I had a roll of film developed that included pictures from your visit to "Jazz at the Bistro" in St. Louis last December. I picked up the pictures tonight (they came out fine) and realized that it happens to be your birthday. Before last December, it had been 25 years since you'd played in St. Louis. Here's hoping you make it back a little sooner next time!

I always knew you were an exceptionally gifted musician but seeing you in action on "Studio Jams" on the the BetJazz network was an eye-opening experience for me. I hope to see you live someday.

Pat, just had to say thanks man for all the inspiration you have given me in music and life. In the good times as well as the bad your music is always there. As an aspiring musician I am inspired to work harder, keep striving and not give up. I have taken classes on and off for the last couple of years at UARTS in Philly. I had the pleasure of having a lesson with you on my 24th birthday. Thursday, October 4, 2001. I will not forget it. I’ve seen your shows recently in Philly, NYC, DC and look forward to your next October performance in Philly. Thanks again for everything.

Hey Pat! It's really great to see you're doing so well. And your music is touching so many! I'm so happy for you and you look great. You've come a long way from playing the theme song from "Peter Gunn" for you pesky little cousin! God bless you and your wife with continued success. Maybe I'll be able to catch your show at Zanzibar in October. Love, Angela

Mr. Martino, Meeting you a few weeks ago at Chris' Jazz Cafe was truly an amazing experience. It is something that I will never forget. You opened your eyes and heart to a young aspiring guitarist for a small conversation that many musicians of your calibur do not subject themselves to. You are truly a blessing to the guitar as an instrument and tool of language. I thank you for your time, your philospohy and your everlasting yearning to make incredible music. I hope that years of joyful music come your way as I listen and study your works for years to come.

Dear Pat, I looked up the other day and realized that your music has been one of the most meaningful parts of my life for well over twenty years now. I remember, as if it was yesterday, when a friend walked in to my apartment in New York with vinyl of "El Hombre" in 1982 and put on "Just Friends" -- it sounds just as fresh today as the first day I heard it (and it was around 20 years old already!). I wanted to thank you so much for bringing us your music and inspiration, for all your albums, especially "We'll Be Together Again", but really, all of them, and I have most of them -- "Conversation" is fantastic; your work with Eric Alexander is killing, what a cool session "El Hombre" is on the Elio Villafranca session ... and we all cannot wait to hear your newest upcoming one. Thanks for your instructional videos too, they are just fantastic, and I'm so glad you played "Sortice" on Conversation - it's a beautiful composition. And thanks for the unflagging hospitality over the years too, I remember coming to your house almost 20 years ago to interview you for a prospective Guitar World piece (sorry that never worked out - I was young, and you were so nice to me, and they really weren't too interested in jazz and much less any accompanying astral theories and philosophies :^). I did do the inside photographs for Bronx Tale, if you remember that particular session; Bob K. is an old friend of mine, out on the West Coast now.., and most recently saw you at the Iridium that night which was about 15 below zero. Just an opinion, but it seems your playing is "better" now than ever, if that can be said... many guitars were put up on eBay for sale after Yoshi's came out, I'm sure. I am wishing you many many more fruitful years of immersion in your art! -Harold Sinclair

i must agree with chris and Tony - awesome collection, my favorites are also in there - chic corea herbie grant green antonio carlos jobim, and all the greats aswell. i was very impressed to see that they were mostly vinyls, vinyls are hard to get here in aus (today) , and i think they are the best sounding medium if you have a good player. yeah when are you coming to australia? LOL, cheers Pat.

Hi Pat. What a fantastic record collection. Got to love the early pioneers of jazz guitar in Django, Charlie and of course Wes. Love you what you do and am trying to educate other musicians into your music. Will keep at it until every one knows who Pat Martino is. As i said i'm a great fan. When are you coming to Australia???

Hi Pat, I was surprised not to see Billy Bean mentioned in your record collection. Perhaps it's my imagination, but I hear some influence of him in your playing. In any case it was both fun and fascinating to have a glimpse at your library of recordings. Thanks for sharing.

I love your Record Library Pat. Thanks, as always, for your inpsiration. I was happy to see "For Django" by Joe Pass was in there; one of my favourite albums. Did I ever tell you Pat, that Joe Pass told me personally that "you" and George Benson were his favourites of the younger players coming up in the jazz ranks at that time? This was told to me in 1980 when I had the privilage of studying with him for two weeks during his stay in Sydney Australia. Great memories. Thought you'd like to know. God bless. Tony Calabro

Interesting list of records, when is the Rock category posting ?? you can't tell me Pat does not have at least one rock/rock &roll record he likes. And the Blues list ??? . One night in Philly I saw Pat himself bust out a Killer blues which he sang (the only time ever that I saw, closing night -Grendals Lair )

Hi Pat! Was reading an article on soloing the other night and the author was breaking it down into little rules like "don't play all your best stuff first", "try to build to climaxes" ect. This was all very good advice but I just tell my guys to play from their heart and then I play them some of your expressions. Thank God for ears. Thank you for always playing thru the heart. P.S.Your music is a great way to introduce my non-jazz guitar buddies to this wonderful means of expression!
