Pat's Guest Book archive, August, 1999.
I arrived at this site thanks to a fine young local (Chicago-area)jazz guitarist, Peter Lerner. I've been a jazz lover since the mid-50's, particularly guitarists. I feel so stupid that up until now I missed your work. The only excuse I can muster is that the 60's,70's & 80's were kinda taken up raising a family of four offspring. It's time to make up for lost time!
Incidentally, Pete Lerner's website is www.lernermusic.com if you'd care to look in.

Pat, Someone took my copy of "Interchange" I can't find another..How can I get one? Saw you in L.A. at Catalina's about 4 years ago and wish I could catch you at the Blue Note. I enjoy your playing greatly and was first told about you by Jerry Fields in Richmond, VA years ago.

Hi Pat! My name is Walter Sopicki, from Buffalo, NY. I'm driving down to NYC to see you (at) the Blue Note on Tuesday, Sept.14 with a few friends. I can't wait! My guitar teacher, Frank Girard, remembers you from the old Pine Grill days in Buffalo. He also took lessons from Dennis Sandole after you did. Hopefully, I will get to meet you (at) the Blue Note for a few seconds. See ya there!

Dear Pat Martino,
Thank you for discovering and realizing your wonderful God-given tallents and for fullfilling your destiny in life, i.e., showing the world the reason that the guitar was invented. Your personal example has set a VERY high standard that is very rare throughout history! Pat, YOU ARE THE FREAKING MAN, BABY!!!!!! Hang in there, record, perform, record, perform, etc. Take care, Love, Your biggest, oldest, most greatful and awestruck fan, Curt Miller (I mean, how do you DO that?) PS You and Eric Johnson should get together! THEE TWO GREATEST ELECTRIC GUITARISTS ALIVE TODAY! Mt. Saint Helens would probably errupt...

I recently graduated from ROWAN UNIVERSITY, were I received a degree in Music
Education/Performance on Classical Guitar. While attending Rowan I've had a chance to
experience some teaching from Dennis Diblasio and many other Jazz faculty staff members. I
also have studied and am still currently studying w/ A jazz guitarist, JOSEPH FEDERICO,
who actually studied with Dennis Sandole. Since Philadelphia isn't that far away and I travel
there once in awhile, I was wondering if I could schedule a lesson with you. As I am a
teacher myself, I encourage my students not only to study with me, but seek knowledge
from other players also. I hope to hear from you. By the way, it was great working with you.(Disc Makers) Thanks Pat, and GOD bless.

Hello Pat,
Just wanted to say that I always enjoy your music and I'm very
happy to hear you've recovered nicely from a recent illness. I
don't always keep as up-to-date as I'd like, but this recent visit
to your website revealed that you released an albumn on my birthday,
July 13th. Now *that* is a great birthday present indeed! Thank you
so much - now that I know of it's existence, I'll buy it right away.
I am also a guitarist, although my foray into the realm of jazz
guitar began a mere 5 years ago or so. I have some of your videos-
I especially like when you explain that your playing should not be
analysed along modal lines, that your playing *became* through
experience, not analysis.
Also - a wonderful friend of mine, an extremely beautiful person
and also a friend of yours, Marilyn Pennington says hello. She
asked me to tell you to please give her a call if you're able -
I'm sure it would mean so much to her. She's still in the same
place, north of Seattle and her phone number is:
(425) 775-1876. We didn't know about your gig at the Mt. Hood
Festival, or we surely would have attended.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this,

I just wanted to write a few words of praise for an incredible musician. We don't have to much live jazz down here so we have to rely more on recordings. As a musician, when I first heard the album "East!", I knew I had the ultimate inspiration. When "The Return" and "The Maker" were released and I once again heard that distinctive steady, punching lead guitar with all of its fatness, I knew I had plenty more inspiration to feast on. Pat, keep on dishing up your unique brand of jazz. We're mighty hungry down here! We hope you can make it down to Georgia some time.

Hi Pat, I saw the listing for your new album, "Mission Accomplished". I was just hoping you could fill us in on who is playing (is Ridl back?), and anything else about it. Thanks, Mike Archbold

I'm in Heaven! I just got my CD copy of "We'll be together again". I have bought easily 10 vinyl copies of this masterpiece and worn them all out!
When I first heard this record, it redefined musical clarity for me. The clean lines, the subtle dynamics and the heart with which each note is played still bring tears of joy to my eyes when I listen to these recordings - even now, well over 20 years later.
Thank you, Pat, for this work of art. Without it, my life would have been poorer.

Hey Pat. Met you back in 1984 when you were playing Shier's
in Cape May, NJ. Your brilliance came across, but also your
warmth. We struck up a friendship, payed you a visit that
summer in Philly. Saw you at many other performances. I
work for a computer company and play acoustic and electric
music down here in South Florida. I use a custom Alembic
electric. Are you planning to ever perform down here in
South Florida? There's a real excellent jazz club in Fort
Lauderdale called Toni Bishop's. Glad to hear you're doing
well and staying active. Hope to hear back from you.

Dear Mr. Martino, Please accept this expression of gratitude and appreciation for your work and artistry. I have enjoyed your music since the mid 70s, and like the new music as well as the old. I am also grateful for the extended accessibility afforded by your website. I look forward to the offerings by Kitai Music Co., hoping that you will directly reap the freedom and financial benefits of an independent publishing company. Thank you, again. May God bless you in mind, body, and spirit.

Pat, I was really looking forward to seeing you play at the Mt. Hood Jazz Festival this year! I have been a fan of yours since the 70's.Since I have never seen you perform, and thought I never would at one time,it was a real thrill to see your name as part of the musician's list this year.I am very sad to hear that your health is not so good .I hope this correspondence finds you happy and well! Hopefully you will be able to get out this way soon. You have many people who love you and your music in the northwest. Thanks for everything you have given the world!!!

Hank wanted me to wish you well. We got connected to your site through Clay Moore. When we read your Biography it made us both realize that you and Hank have gone through some similar things in life. God keep you Pat & if you ever come to Florida we would love to have you visit. Hank loves your music and he feels like you do. The guitar is only an instrument..it is the friends, love, & God that keeps him with us. Jimmy Bruno has our number...Jimmy is a wonderful guitarist too and dear friend. Always, Hank Garland (&Amy)
