Must be one of few in Australia to own a copy of your great new CD. So nice to hear your collaborarions with the others, especially Mike and Joe. Look foward to hearing your next work as it is marginally impossible to drive to the States so see your next performance. Just a bit too much H2O between us. Great Homepage. All the best..........

Hi Pat, I must be your newest fan. I just picked up "all Sides Now" two hours ago and I loved it. There are some great collabarations in there. I bought it solely on the ad in Guitar Player Magazine. Nice work! Phil-

I wrote a while ago inquiring about how Pat was feeling since I was told here in Japan that the reason he didn't come (to set this place on FIRE!) was he was sick. It was an erroneous rumor. Anyway, is there any new news about coming here? Early or later 98? Can't wait. Later, 98

Hi Pat, I have been trying to find the CD's Nightwings and Interchange and I have been unsuccessful in doing so. Would you know where I can find them? Perhaps they will become available when 32 Records rereleases them? By the way, I have really enjoyed your song books that I received a few weeks ago. Nothing like getting your ears streched to learn new things! Thanks alot!

You know, for so many years I kept reading articles of all the (jazz,et al)guitarists I've known & loved and they kept saying how much they were influenced by Frank Marino and how much respect they had for him. I couldn't figure out what the connection was, quite bemused was I. Then I read a story in Musician magazine and heard another on our local 24-Hour, commercial free jazz station and realized it Pat Martino these guys were talking about! Oh... They played a song and that was it for me. Your picture (from some web site)is pinned to my wall at work. You, your music and your life are an inspiration. As a player, I say to you what I said to Les Paul at the Iridium last year. "I have a long way to go". Thank you.

I'm looking forward to seeing and hearing you again at the Kuumbwa Jazz Center in Santa Cruz. It has been a long time since 'that school' in Hollywood in 1980. I still have that page of drawings that you scrolled during one of our little sessions. One of my all-time favorite albums is 'We'll Be Together Again' with Gil Goldstein. Very happy to be hearing your music again!

Pat, Congratulations on your new release. I picked up a copy yesterday and am anxious to start listening. I have been a fan for more than 10 years now and keep The Maker and The Return in "heavy rotation" at home. I worked with Michael Hedges and Tuck Andress at Windham Hill and was thrilled to see their names on "All Sides Now". Hoping you make it to the South to perform live one day. Until then, I'll dream of traveling to NYC to hear you. Best of luck, dana

Pat ,all I can say is Thanx for all the years of inspiration that you have given me.When I first heard your LP "Consciousness" some 22 years ago, the emotional intensity in your playing gave me the impetus to try and achieve that in my own playing. You & a handful of other players who make music with emotion & fire are what music is all about for me.Your sound has always been what a "jazz guitar" is. Again thank you for your inspiration.

Dear Pat, I am writing to you again just to tell you how excited I am getting as your Oct. engagement in NYC nears. I can't wait to hear you live. I hope that at least I will be able to shake your hand and thank you for all you have done in my life. I too suffer from complications of the brain and after learning what you went through you have become an insperation to me to continue on as you have taught me this is possible. I am a guitar player and am fond of the organ bag. Do you think that you will ever re-release the album you were on with Don Patterson, Houston Person, and I believe Bill James. I think that it was called Demensions Four, I lent it to someone years ago and never got it back. I sure would like to hear that again. I hope you are feeling well and are continuing to have fun in your life especially doing the things that you missed out on earlier in your life. May God Bless You! Love, Peace, Health, and Happiness! Dear Pat Martino: Best wishes to you in this banner year of releases, articles and reissues. I anxiously await the new release on Blue Note later this month. "Firedance" is en route to my house, and I a listening to "Footprints" on 32 Jazz as I write this. Back in 1987, my father Richard, my friend Jamie and I attended two sets at Ethel's Place in Baltimore. Although I haven't purchased the video yet , my memories of the show are vivid and enjoyable. Like many of your fans, I love " Joyous Lake" and hoe that Warners will rerelease it. "Willow" is another favorite track-especially at night. "Slipback" from the Return always makes me smile. How about a trio recording of Martino, John McLaughlin, and Pat Metheny? You could title it: "M-SQUAD 1998!" Back in the late 1980's, Larry Wooldridge (fine guitarist and teacher now deceased), answered a query I had about his meeting you. He mentioned that he had heard some unreleased music that was beautiful. I know your music is uplifting, honest and true. I hope we will see the release of all your work. Sincerely, with love and respect for your gifts and your achievements, Randy Aitken

Pat - I'm absolutely thrilled to learn that your ablum "Footprints" will be re-released in the near future. I consider "Footprints" to be the best recording ever made by a jazz guitarist and have been searching for it record shops for years. Happy birthday and continued good luck. Bill

What a wonderful month for Pat's fans! The long awaited domestic release of "Footprints", the exotic "Firedance", and "All Sides Now" (due out Aug. 26-the day after Pat's birthday). Let me be the first on this board to wish you a happy birthday, Pat. I always remember since mine is the 24th! I hope all the fans head to the record store for "All Sides Now" for your birthday present. Even the "mall jazz" radio stations should play your version of "Too High" with Charlie Hunter. I can't wait to see you at Yoshi's in October.

Dear Pat, It has been years since I've seen and spoken to you. I don't know if you remember me but I was a friend of Angie in Hammonton New Jersey. I also was a friend to you, and took lessons during about the time you had the aneurism. I really used to enjoy speaking to your mother and father the days I came over for lessons (around 1981). They were both so proud of you, I could especially see it on your father's face (what a nice man) Because of your illness, I guess we lost touch but I did write a letter to see how you were. Although I am not a full time guitarist, I still enjoy playing romantic jazz interludes at coffee houses now and again. I have moved on to physical therapy school at NovaSoutheastern University in Fort Lauderdale Florida. When I tell people I studied under you, they immediatly think all we did was guitar work. But in actuallity all I remeber are the phylisophical discussions between a young man and someone who opened up a peice of the world for him. Even now as I study to be a therapist, I know I must strive to be an artist at my craft. I have often used the example that you used while lecturing in California. As you told me, I would ask people to sign their name on the Black Board, then ask them who the artist is. When no one could answere I would elegantly write my name and explain to them that the artist is always and artist no matter what the medium is.. ( a great lesson, thanks) Well best of luck Pat, I hope you'll write Respectfully John C Arena (an old friend) jcarena (at) hpd.nova.edu

Thank you, thank you -- your response was just delivered to me, and it is very thoughtful of you to take the time to reach out to me. Please consider my earlier guestbook entry responded to; you need not take the time to enter a response here. What a relief that Joel Chriss sent the messages on to you -- I was afraid that none of them had reached you. Thanks again and we'll be in touch; take care of yourself until then.

Have you received any of the letters that I snail-mailed to you? From December 1996 to this past June, I addressed and mailed at least seven letters to you. One or two were sent to Joel Chriss Co.; one of those included a small reproduction of a Madonna with Child ikon, designed to resemble a Navajo sand painting. I am not the artist but wanted to share a copy with you. I don't know much about ikons but I am told that ikons are not painted, ikons are "written" , like scripture. Wanted to know if the image "spoke" to you. Was it ever passed on to you? Have you seen it? This computer scares me half to death, I don't really know how it works. But if "snail-mail" does not connect with you, then I will have to step out into cyberspace to make contact. Sorry to take up so much space. Thank you for listening. Next time I can get to this computer station in the local cyber-cafe, will check to see if this reached you. Bless you.

Dear Pat, I'm a good friend of Bob Kobus and took some lessons from you shortly after you got out of the hospital-- 1981. I have a copy of a live recording from 1968 with Gene Ludwig & Randy Gillespie- some of the most amazing guitar playing that I've ever heard! I transcribed one of the tunes called "Colossus" and it's a great piece that I enjoy playing on gigs. I'm so happy that you're playing, again. Good luck on the new album for Blue Note. I sorry that you won't be playing when you come to Seattle. I may try to catch you in S. F in October. BTW - I am still VERY interested in buying a copy of the artwork off Maker.
