Austin, Tx USA - Thursday, April 29, 2004 at 21:17:37 (EDT)Hello Pat!
I am a 23 year old guitar player from Oslo, Norway. I've been listening to your music for a long time, and I really think your guitar playing has influenced my style a lot. People even comment that I sound a little bit like Pat Martino..
I just wonder if you come to Oslo soon? Right now I work as a lightning ingenieer at Cosmopolite music scene, where I know you've performed, and maybe you will perform there again soon?

Oslo, Norway - Wednesday, April 28, 2004 at 06:05:34 (EDT)Dear Pat,
Seeing you at Blues Alley changed my life. I am a 16 year old budding jazz guitar player and your presence has been eternally sketched into my music. You are the most enlightened person I have ever met. After the show, I asked you for any advice you might have to offer. Your answer has helped define my guitar playing as well as my philosophy of life.
Thanks for everything,
Ben Phan
P.S. I love your signature guitar tone, but I can't afford your model. Do you know of any cheaper, similar sounding guitars? Thanks again for your music!!

Springfield, VA USA - Sunday, April 25, 2004 at 12:06:33 (EDT)Hi Pat,
I'm a long time fan who has seen you play many times. I'm compelled to tell you that I believe that "Think Tank" is an absolutely brilliant endeavor. I have been listening to it since its release, and it has had a profound effect on me. The compositions are very deep and the muscianship is astounding. As always, your solos are amazing and Gonzalo is simply a genius. I had no idea Mr. Nash was such a monster. I think this is your most mature and intellectual effort yet. I can't wait for your next release. Thank you so much for having such a positive impact on my life.

Remember the guy who had your autograph on a yellow fender? that's me.
It was so fantastic that I could see you at korea.
Before bluenote opened at seoul it was just a dream.
If you come to korea again, I'll study english more.
Than we might have longer conversation.
Thanks again for you great show.

Seoul, Korea - Saturday, April 24, 2004 at 10:59:12 (EDT)Thank you for an absolutely superb set at Mountain Vernon Country Club. It doesn't get any better than that. Your rhythm section of young lions was a mind blower! I'm encouraged for the future of jazz. Any time you come to Denver, I'll be there.
Thanks!!!

USA - Saturday, April 24, 2004 at 10:37:45 (EDT)Hey Pat,
Caught your show at the Jazz Bakery this month and brought my wife who absolutly flipped out as I knew she would. Great show, we stayed for both sets. Thank you for being so kind as to say hello after the show. You are as much a gentleman as a great guitarist. I'm still sweating over your instructional videos and loving it.
All the Best,

Dear Pat, I am your student and friend from way back in 1994 when I took some of my first lessons you sent me on video. Since then, I have grown a great deal thanks to you and now I have my own CD "Frankly Speaking" out. You were supposed to email me if I should post you a copy. Anyway, I want to express my gratitude to you for all your help. I will be coming to USA in the month of June or July. Please let me know if we could get together at least for a few minutes. It would be great having you around. All my love Gordon Franks from South Africa.

Durban, RSA South Africa - Monday, April 19, 2004 at 17:21:52 (EDT) Dear Pat: I've seen you in concert three times here in the L.A. area, and have always been so impressed, not only by your art, but by your great graciousness to me and friends I've brought to meet you after a set or show. You are so kind and decent. I don't think I can adequately express how touched I have been. Thanks so much for your exciting music and your gentleness. Take good care, and I look forward to seeing you again. All the best from Keith

Torrance, CA USA - Monday, April 19, 2004 at 01:43:05 (EDT)Dear Mr. Martino,
I am a zealous amateur guitarist on a "slow track" to jazz improvisation. I have your albums "Footprints" and "Both Sides Now," and I find both of them inspiring; they give me clear direction as to where I want to go as a musican. What I find especially inspiring, however, is your comment in the biography section of this web site: "The guitar is of no great importance to me. The people it brings to me are what matter." Thank you for putting it all in perspective, and keeping the focus on what really matters.

Barberton, Ohio USA - Thursday, April 15, 2004 at 18:02:06 (EDT)Mr. Martino,
I've recently been introduced to your work and must say I'm inspired by your life story and musical achievments on the guitar. I'm 45 and and an amatuer guitar enthusiast that, up until recently, had a "why bother there is not enough time in the day" approach to my playing. Thank you for re-kindling a fire inside me as I've found a new focus to continue studying music and a new found love and perspective on the playing my guitar.

Eden Prairie, MN USA - Wednesday, April 14, 2004 at 01:08:03 (EDT)Dear Pat, your "Sunny" encore Sunday night at the Jazz Bakery in Los Angeles was a wonderful tribute to Wes Montgomery, what with all the octave playing. It was the icing on the cake that was your more typical (but equally great) playing that evening. Of the four times I have had the pleasure of seeing you in concert (including last Thursday also at the Jazz Bakery), this was perhaps the best.

Santa Cruz, CA USA - Tuesday, April 13, 2004 at 12:12:58 (EDT)Hello Pat,I hope you are well.Since your masterclass in Cork last Autumn (when we all to briefly met),my playing has improved vastly, previously I had put so much importance on technique and was losing sight of the bigger picture. Many thanks again. On the subject of "Mind Picks",I have been using scraps of ebony fingerboard off-cuts from a luthier freind which can be fashioned into excellent picks.Coconut shell works almost as well but with a slightly brighter tone.Deepest Respect and Fondest Regards,
Donald MacLeod.

Phoenix, Az USA - Saturday, April 10, 2004 at 18:18:24 (EDT)I was in attendance at the Tuesday nights shows at the Jazz Bakery in Los Angeles. Your band was ON FIRE!!! It was the most stimulating evenings of jazz I've had this year - I hope this band is recorded...your drummer, Scott Robinson, is the most exciting drummer to come down the pike in a long time.

Los Angeles, CA USA - Friday, April 09, 2004 at 15:48:35 (EDT)Pat - so wonderful to hear that you are finally coming out to Arizona! I've been waiting for years and years and years! I will be in Phoenix on May 7!
I do wish you and your lovely wife would have the opportunity to visit & play Tucson someday. Tucson is a totally different experience than Phoenix. One cannot describe the incredible beauty of standing on a hill in Saguaro National Park East, located in the foothills of the Rincon Mountains, gazing out across the valley and watching the sun set over Kitt Peak and the Tucson Mountains. To the north the Catalina's stand tall and in the South the Santa Rita's stand watch. It's all so incredibly beautiful. I wish everyone could experience a Tucson moment at least once.
See ya in Phoenix!

pittsburgh, pa USA - Thursday, April 08, 2004 at 00:41:16 (EDT)Your playing has been an inspiration to me since the early 70's. I heard you at the Jazz Showcase, Friday, April 2 and was thoroughly refreshed - your balance of mathematics vs. emotion is amazing. Also, it's great to see you bringing along fine young players. Thanks for being there for me.

Ravenna, OH USA - Sunday, April 04, 2004 at 20:35:15 (EDT)3/31/04 - I just saw your quintet here in Chicago at the Jazz Showcase... wonderful venue and you all were incredible! Loved how in sync you all were & can't wait to have the opportunity to see you again. My husband Chris (a guitar player & web designer www.compfriend.com) told me afterwards about hard bebop and said that your website is really well done (I agree). I especially like the I Ching references... & I'm an astrology buff so the patterns you put up are especially beautiful. You have such a wonderful, natural, lively, joyful, organic style... good luck with all your endeavors. Also, good luck to the young guys you are working with... they each seem very special & I hope to hear more from them in the years to come. Feel free to put me on your e-mailing list!
